Description Okays, well, the college portfolio day is over. So now I can post what I showed them!

The reason why the wing looks like a shell, is because this was drawn off from a still life that we had to visually interpret with our concentration. So yes, indeed it is a shell. I didn't know what else to do with it. XD

Also, this was created with: Gouache ( AKA-The devils paint with no patience) and ballpoint pen on bristol paper. I also used white charcoal to add some highlights, then I enhanced the contrast on Iphoto.

Oh dear god that is gorgeous. The dragon lives up to the name. This a very surreal piece, very unusual compared to your typical style. The perspective on the lower body seems a little off though; the foot and the tail seem to be at odds.

Aside from that, really cool. Not sure how you achieved that effect, as the dragon has similar thatching to the background. It's tripping me out, man o_o

Oh dude, I messed up really bad on that foot,
the perspective as you mentioned is way off, so I just colored it in.
Turns out that it made it more noticeable?

Glad I was able to pull of the surreal look! As for the thatching.
All ya gotta do is make markings on the bristol board alone,
overlay a wash of any color gouache, then draw the dragon on top.
Redo the process till you get the desired look!

You were also doing this traditionally, without the blessed Ctrl-Z to save the day. I like how you described gouache (devil's paint with no patience XD).

Speaking of art, they no longer have it at the local college. Much as I'd like to learn with other people, I have plenty of resources to draw from, not to mention your awesome tutelage, so it's not so bad.

Exactamente! Thats a positive of digital art.
I've even gotten so used to it that when I actually do work traditionally,
I feel the need to press am invisible key on the table? WTF BRIAN!?

And of course! I'll always try to help and teach you the dealios about digital skillios. Well, least of what I know.

Kekekeke...dealios and skillios...you will be the advent of the new age of jive XD

Huhuhuh, that would be funny to confuse those. You try to erase pencil only to smudge and you'd be like "THIS TABLET IS A BITCH!"

I definitely appreciate the offer. Right now my brain is trying to wrap around how the spread of Afro Dragon's horns would appear from a 3/4 perspective. From a frontal view it would be obvious, but right now they look too much like Mitch's.

As always, summon me if you're ever in need of writing assistance. Like a conjuration spell!

God I'm a dork.

Yup, would be my reaction. XD

Well. How many horns does he have?
I'll draw up a reference in a sec for how I worked it out with Mitch's horns. Perhaps that'll help?

Huhu conjuration spell....

It's still somewhat like that cone shape that you use, but from a frontal view the horns span out more (like an afro one would say XD, albeit more subtle and not to Huey Freeman levels). They start out larger and get smaller as they run down his face.

I just assumed he was going to break into some sort of floral dance, hence the shell.

My characters would escape the canvas.
Well, canvas.
Besides, if they came IRL, they'd be all deformed because I suck at drawing them. Lol
