Hands can make an artist humble at times, at least they are for me. Though when in doubt, I look for a reference.

References can really help you see what just isn't right in your initial sketch. The Second thing I do is break down what I see into more basic shapes, then flesh them out a little more, until finally the line-art.

I feel a little vulnerable with these sort of sketches, but I hope that sharing the little things I do, could possibly help someone out.
