Thank you. The layout was probably the hardest part, and I'll probably make better for each new I make. You have a good point about the tools. I might do a more advanced wand in the future (still sketching on the design) and make a "companion tutorial" for it, and I'll keep this in mind.

Ah step five is the step I start with when I'm making the Wand truly two separate parts I.E Handle with wand threaded through, this will allow me to make as many mistakes as I want on the handle without destroying my wand fully. I'll make single piece wands of course but Two part is the way I prefer. I can't wait to learn more wood turning and you've given me insight on a couple tools I need to add to my prop and custom Lego making.
By the way I am in Hufflepuff with a Rowan with Unicorn core and length of 14 inches for my wand. I feel it really funny that the wood I need just so happens to be that of my Celtic Tree Rowan like Amethyst is February connected me and my stepsister, my pup (Who doubles as the origin of my Patronus shape Dachshund as well as a rather Ironic house connection since we all know what animal Dachshunds hunt and they are the one animal that can make a Badger give a crap) my best friend and two grandfathers and rather fits my character too as I am a protector I will fight with my life on the line to save someone I care about.
Way I see it every life is worth the same, that price? Why life is the worth of life Death is free to all Life it is a blessing that Humans, Muggle or Wizard have only managed to create it fron nothing unlike Transfiguration which I look on with the Shaman style of All things have a sort of life and when transfigured a object's life force becomes a true soul and no turning a pig into a desk is not killing it the soul sleeps inside till the desk is transfigured again. Anyway I digress the only form of Life humans have managed in a closer form like ours is Steam powered machines.
The Hogwarts Express is even more alive now then when it was taken from Crewe as it has magic supplying the fire and water for the steam. Wonder if Salamanders could be born in the firebox considering that the fire would relight on it's own every few months a immortal Salamander could grow.

Could you also use wood stain for the wand?

iยดll try it this way again. my first try endet up not so good, because the wood split here and there along the end ... i guess i didnยดt dry it enough with its bark

Inspirement In reply to Yommytheonly [2012-06-21 11:15:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, you should make sure it's dry before starting any serious work. I think you can remove the bark though. I imagine it'll dry faster then.

I'd love to try this out, I've thought of making a wand before, but haven't really looked for instructions. This should work beautifully though, thank you for the tutorial!
