It reminds me of a place described in 'The Scarlet Letter' by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Very spooky,
I don't understand how the pines are so close to the shore. Its slight odd but it adds very well to the composition. Great shot!

So close to the shore! Wow. . .
My husband's uncle lived in the UP along Lake Superior and one day he shot himself in the head. He was done living. His place wasn't that different from this one. I love this image for all it made me feel.

Knowing seas and the great lakes, I knew that house could not really be in that location. It would be destroyed by ice!

I definitely find this an eerie scene. It feels as if it would be perfectly silent here and something bad has happened.

damn... that is handsome...
out of curiosity, how metaphoric do you intend your landscapes to be?... (if at all)...

usual no metaphor implied but on this I was thinking of my childhood dreams where something quite commonplace would be interpreted as nightmare- an empty room with a fireplace burning or a dark movie theatre with a woman pushing a babystroller down the aisle-they always upset me for some reason (sense of surrealism) this I hoped would be like that - simple but unsettling

i don't get a strong sense of the ominous... i think there is too much light for that... for it to feel ominous for me...
but...
there is certainly a heightened sense of drama... (due, in large part, to the contrast)... and there is something odd about the way the land and water meet... it seems a bit odd/surreal...

Isolation... alone against the universe... yet optimistic and strong I face my fate beyond the safe shores.
