A Hawker Sea Fury as seen at the 2017 Chino Planes of Fame Airshow, taken during the sunrise photo access. This plane from what I could find out was used in air races. According to its landing gear flap it was the top qualifier in 1983-86 and set a world qualifying record in 1986 of 452.737 MPH.Related content

A very capable aircraft but head to head with the Grumman F8F Bearcat, the Bearcat would come out on top

Having seen both Bearcat and Sea Fury perform together, and just how closely matched the pair are with regard to performance, I'd suggest that if the Bearcat did indeed have the edge over the Sea Fury, that it would be negligible to the point that in truth, any advantage would have come down to skill of the pilot more than anything.
Of course in reality we can never really know because the Bearcat only ever saw combat with the French, and not as a fighter. The Sea Fury has seen fighter combat, downing several MiGs in Korea, but the Bearcat never got it's baptism of fire so to speak as a purebred fighter.
One thing we can be sure of though, they are both exceptional aircraft in performance and looks, and together are the ultimate piston fighters. The last, and finest of their kind.
