Why does being happy make you so unhappy?Why can't I do what feels right to me?
Why must you punish me for being happy?
I feel as though each moment is agony.
I've longed for this joy in my life,
and yet, I feel like a criminal for it.
Why must I be persecuted for loving?
Why must joy be a crime to you?
Why can you not be happy for me?
This life is a measurement,
a measurement of our souls,
Life shows us our measure.
And yet, you make this so hard,
I want only to express my heart,
but then you hate me for it.
My empathy for you is lethal
to my positive emotions,
a veritable minefield in fact.
I would give up so much for you,
do so much to make you happy,
Curse this empathy.
I think I know when you
will be happy with me,
only, only when you break me.
