a golden retriever.

attention and affection,
that one person cannot possibly
provide it all.

When I crave another's company,
there is none such other as you,

When you're away,
I miss you being here,
knowing it's selfish,
and caring only a little.

I feel as though,
we've known each other,
forever and a day -
many, many moons hence.

You, who have been in my life
a mere blink in time,
know me better than
my long missing brothers.

Day-dreaming of the mischief
we'll get up to when you return,
of the tricks we'll play,
the fun we'll have.
