Ok, what would be like if we had the world's most powerful Pokemon but now B I G ?
It's February 6th, that means our favorite clone Pokemon it's having its birthday right now <3 So yeah, I decided to Dynamax it because reasons lol, and also because it will return once the upcoming DLC for Sword and Shield comes out, so I hope we can capture it in a Dynamax battle cause that will be cool ^^
Oh, and it seems Red wants to catch the Kaiju Mewtwo it this time, yep, here he is, sporting his edgy clothing from Pokemon Masters because I like that look, that's the only reason ^w^
I also hope to post another piece with Mewtwo these days, one that has a more lighthearted feeling~

its so cool looking, I love the way you draw Mewtwo, it has a retro feeling to it and its the same type of Mewtwo I love to see! I love the glow in the eyes and hands very fitting for the psychich type and adds that extra GLARE to the emotion of the piece

hehe thanks ^^, and you're a pretty good observer, since I did make use of some retro images from Red/Green/Blue as references in order to draw Mewtwo, especially its sprite and artwork: static3.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp⦠lh3.googleusercontent.com/prox⦠You can certainly get some interesting results if you mix the old with the new. And glowing hands and eyes are a big part of Mewtwo's appearance since the first pokemon movie, so there's that too, along with the fact that I wanted this to have a "final boss" feeling in it. (I don't know, I guess I was thinking about Breath of the Wild in my head, especially since I was hearing the music of the battle against Ganon when drawing this lel)
Red has bought his clothes in the pokemon world equivalent of Hot Topic, and he must be hearing rock music from 2000s bands lmao

oh yeah amn man that ganon fight is absolutely epic now that you mentioned the resemblance id say color theme wise its pretty close so it is cool to see a common ground between both

ah yes! thats the exact Mewtwo I really like, I love how he had these sharper edges and bigger head, he looked more beast like and somehow even more alien like, I especially liked how its "muscle/tendon" like piece from the back of his head was more pronounced
and everytime I think of mewtwo i think of the amazingly epic battle against it in Stadium and how cool his animations were in that game youtu.be/9T4_edI23Vk
the way it moves its hands in this "i will hypnotise you and potentially eventually crush you with my psychic powers" to the way its eyes glowed and a vein popped in its head showing it was truly using its brain as its main power source ARGH! everything about Mewtwo was just so fucking cool back then, I still really like it but it just isnt the same, theres less to the animations on it nowadays unfortantely and it makes it more like a generic monster
but I will always remember the super awesome mewtwo! and your deawing conveys those feelings of wanting to face the super cool mewtwo at its coolest, now even as a titan haha

The first artworks of Mewtwo really convey that feeling of an alien like creature that could easily take over your mind in any second, and the animations from Stadium are always awesome, it's like it's manipulating everything on its environment and makes you feel at disadvantage when facing it.
It seems Mewtwo got redesigned once the movie came out in the same way Pikachu got thinner in the anime, mostly because to do some animations a bit easier, at least that was the reasoning with Pikachu from what I've read.
And I guess Calamity Ganon was in my mind this whole time lol, it' definitely the colors. Some underestimate the power of purple and pink, let those colors shine in all their glory!

oh yeah the way you put it makes a lot of sense, animating something with edges was easier on pen and paper but with digital its easier to do more curves and i think thats why the alola and galar anime feel so nice since they went full on digital on it, i think studio trigger also shows that once you use so much digital process that if you make more forms rounder it makes he animation super fluid and energetic (shows like Kill la Kill and Gurren Laggan) so im glad pokemon went that way animation wise, shame it hasnt been as powerful on 3D yet but well have to wait and see what they do

Oh true, comparing the Kanto and Johto seasons to Alola and Galar shows the difference in the designs along with more dynamic animations and frames, especially during the fights. I love how the combats are animated in the recent episodes, like Pikachu rubbing his cheeks before doing Thunderbolt, that's nice <3

Unfortunately Power does not scale to size and besides his mega Y form canonically is more powerful then god. Does it really need a Dynamax form? IMO no but this still looks amazing anyway!

Mega Mewtwo is certainly its strongest form with all those big stats but I think I would be dead scared if I saw one that was like 30 meters tall, it would leave a quite big impression on me lol. And thanks for the compliment too ^^
