Actually, it's a very ancient symbol with a ton of different meanings. Buddhist and Hindu temples in Tibet and India are sometimes covered in Swastikas, and it was originally a symbol of the sun, cyclical time, and good luck in many cultures. Hell, there's even a tribe of Native Americans that used the swastika. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Muslims used it at one point or another.
