Yes, it's a stamp. Yes, it's about "emoness"... (I'm not defining it in this comment box, thank you xD) I hope you like it.

I was looking everywhere for a stamp that said "I was emo before it was cool", but I couldn't find one! So I made one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Emo is short for emotional. It is not synonymous to "cutter". Aie aie? Aie. Ahaha, I just put the razor-like thing in there because.. Well, it's what most people assume "emo" is. And I couldn't really find a pixelated representation more widely-known than that. xD
Aha, my mom calls me emo in front of everyone she introduces me to. "This is my daughter-- she's an emo." No joke. >.<'' It's rather funny, but, uh, weird, I suppose? Especially since she's not even supposed to know what on earth an emo is. Dx
:\ I'm emo but I only caught on to the emo thing... a half a a year ago?
I don't do alot of emo things, I spend most of my time alone, mostly writting, wear black and jeans when lucky, I never smile(o.0 not to be cool, just... i never smile) and I'm not talkative.....
I hate labels
Well, I've been getting called "emo" for about a year... When I don't truly consider myself that, and I really don't see how other people could, either. I'm just... I dunno. I like writing and drawing, I like my alone time, I like music... And I wear lotsa black, white and red. The usual. :I
Agreed; whoever invented labels should suffer.
o_0 Emo is cool over there? Coz seriously, emo is one of the lowest of the low here. It's all emo hate in my city, anyway.
=/ So you don't think stereotyping has any benefits at all?
Yeah. I get called emo a lot, too. Which is weird, because every time that happens, I'm dressed like a normal person. O-o;
Not really... Do you think stereotyping has benefits at all?
o.0;; That is weeeeird.
I sorta do.. xD
For one thing, it helps identify high school groups more easily. And sure, while people won't all have exactly the same interests as their group stereotype, it's alright to infer their general interests based upon them. Also, if I were to find out a person was a bit of a nerd, I'd find them much more easy to approach than I would for a prep. ^_^ It can't be relied on, no, but it's an easy way to generalise peoples' interests/attitudes and I find it somewhat helpful... X3 There are times when stereotyping isn't good at all (ie. they make some people feel veeery awful) but with others it's just useful in terms what kind of person the individual is or at least what kinds of people they get along with. xD I'unno. I embrace my nerdiness.
It freaks me out a lot, too, because it's usually a little grade 2er asking me if I'm emo. I didn't even know they knew what "emo" was (apparently they don't XD)...
Ah, good point. Many good points, actually. XD But the thing with me is, I usually never judge or stereotype. I watch people for a while (not in a stalkerish manner) to see if they're approachable enough.
Nerdiness is amazing. 8D
o_0;; 2nd graders ask you that? Whoa. xD I never was up with the times as a kid. Even in 5th grade this guy used to call me a retard and I'd tell him I wasn't and that he was and he was like "You don't even know what a retard is!" I'd be like "Yeah I do!" and he'd say, "Well, what is it?" And I'd be like.. "It's... uhh... WELL YOU'RE ONE ANYWAY!! D8<" Because I never knew. >.>;;; Kinda sad how the 5 and 6 year olds on my bus have really colourful vocabularies too.. They're pretty nasty.
Hmm I guess that's a bit better than stereotyping. xD I think I'm just a judgmental person. At school we've got people who HATE stereotyping and others who support it. XP Soon it will be a controversial issue indeed.
83 Sure is!
Yupp. DX
I wasn't up with the times, either. And when the grade 7s and 8s went through that "I know where you live" phase (meaning they said it to anyone they saw), I was really paranoid and I seriously thought they knew where I lived. XD
I think little kids nowadays are more badmouthy than any other time. I said the F word... I think for the first time when I was 13... And I don't say it now, because I don't like that word at all. My little brother, however, said the F word (to me, might I add D: ) for the first time when he was 7. O-o;;
Wow. You should start a school-wide debate on stereotyping opinions. That would be epic.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lilhazelnutta In reply to inu-jyunishi [2008-07-13 01:46:35 +0000 UTC]
They never went through that phase here. o_o;; But I don't blame you for being worried. Ah, one creepy guy said he knew where I lived but that was coz he did coz he saw where I got off the bus. ^_^;
Yeah I don't like that word either but I sometimes use it if I stub my toe or if I'm reaaally really angry (like when I yelled at the druggies a few weeks ago to f off). In year 8 (grade 7?) everyone was going through the 'swearing is cool' phase but coz I was worried that I might accidentally say it while speaking to my family, a friend and I made this little Swear Jar thing where if we swore we had to put 10 cents in it. xDDD It really helped and with the money we made (quite a few dollars) we bought some icecreams. X3 We oughtta introduce the Swear Jar to more people.
Don't your parents get mad at your bro for swearing (especially at you of all people @_@)? My mum thought I swore once and went nuts at me till I finally calmed her down enough to explain I'd said "Aww shoot!" and not another convenient swearword. I don't think my Dad would've liked me swearing either. And of course, my grandparents don't. xD Neither do I so I just avoid it. Instead of saying the f word I go "Ffffffffffffffarmbake-cookies."
I should, ne... Maybe not school-wide though coz the grade 12s scare me. >_> The grade 12 stereotype = scary, rude, snotty. I never actually thought about the stereotypes for year levels before. o_o; Do you have stereotypes for each year level?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
inu-jyunishi In reply to lilhazelnutta [2008-07-13 01:59:56 +0000 UTC]
I use it occasionally, but only if I'm extremely mad. Like really, really mad. Or if I'm quoting our Combo band director. XD
That's a good idea! Actually, strange enough, I'm able to turn my swearing on and off. If I'm with my friends, I swear sometimes because I do that (because I'm immature and have a very limited vocab), but when I'm with my family, I don't. Respect type thing, too. ><'
Well, they've never heard him. I was babysitting him, and he got frusterated (and I had nothing to do with it, thank goodness). My mum swears at me sometimes, but it's in a funny way so I find it okay. And then I swear back, and we get in a swearing war. It's quite amusing, sometimes. X3 But I never swear around my family (unless it's my mum and I being random). I just substitue the F word for "frick" or sometimes - when I'm talking to fast - I say "fruck". DX
Yeah, we do here, too.
Grade 9= Scum, stupid, immature, lame, weird kids
Grade 10= No labels, really. ><''
Grade 11= No labels either, that I know of, at least.
Grade 12= Arrogant, cocky, immature, mean
Grade 12s sometimes freak me out. They give me glares, but I just glare back. I havea really good glare, I have to say. X3
lilhazelnutta In reply to inu-jyunishi [2008-07-13 05:34:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, same with me.. Sometimes I swear at appropriate times at school but never at home unless no one can hear me... Like the toe-stubbing thing.. I stumble over to my bedroom, shut the door and hiss some curses until it doesn't hurt. Un, the respect thing is a factor for me too.
Swearign war with your mum? =3 Nice! I could never do that with my mother. xD My mum is like... I dunno. I don't like talking to her coz I always have to be careful of what I say. Her and I have very different beliefs I think. You're lucky you get to be so casual with your mum. =]
Fruck. Now that is nice. xDDDDD
Ahh it's similar here with those stereotypes but the grade 11s are the ones who think they're reaaaal cool. When I first started high school I've always held them in high respect coz grade 11 was always the "cool" year. xD And now that I'm grade 11 (@.@;;; oldness) I've actually found I'm way more rude to the younger years than I used to be. And even though my group is not what you'd call "cool", we're still part of the cool year level. xD So it's awesome. And next year we get to be SCARY~ 83
You glare at them? You sure got guts... I couldn't do that. >.>; Maybe to a grade 11 when I was younger but definitely not a grade 12.
If I stub my toe, I usually yell "Waaaaah!" and then mumble a curse under my breath when no one's looking. ><'
Me and my mum have a lot in common... I even look like her when she was my age. O-o;; Plus we like to fight the system (of anything). It gives us something to do in our spare time, I suppose. It's fun ranting about how things aren't right and how I'm going to change them. Like this one time, I got told not to wear a tank-top at lacrosse practice ("It shows too much cleavage D8<" said the coach, when it wasn't true, "don't wear such low-cut shirts to practice"), so the next time I wore a turtle-neck. :3 It was comfy, but I nearly melted alive. D8
Ah, I see... Well, seeing as I've never really been around 11th graders in a high-school setting, I wouldn't know. >w< But in late August I get to find out! ...For better or for worse. And then I get froshed by the grade 12s on Frosh day. D: Do you have that in NZ?
Well, glaring makes them look away. If they don't know me, people don't usually maintain eye-contact with me when I glare. If they know me, they glare back. >w< If not, they walk away.
Wow... that's pretty neat you know. XD Ahh I see what you mean! Trying to make a point, ne? I'm a bit like my mum too... in looks because of the dark hair and eyes, but in personality because we both tend to.. over-react. xD And we are both big on morals, even though our opinions conflict. A lot.
Lacrosse... that's a sport where you throw something... isn't it?
What's Froshing? I don't think we have that here.. not at my school, anyway. o_0;
It's quite fun to be a rebel, too. Especially since I'm a straight A student, and I'm on good terms with all the teachers. I can get away with a lot. >:3
Lacross is a lot like hockey; it's actually our national sport. You use a stick with a net on the end to pass the ball around the feild, and you try to score. Orignially there were like 200+ players on the feild at one time, but that was when it was first created by the Native American tribes; they wanted everyone in the village to be able to play at once.
Froshing is when you get sold to the grade 12 for a day and they can do what they want with you. Most grade 9s only do it because if you don't get froshed, you can't frosh grade 9s when you're in grade 12.
Ahh it's nice getting away with stuff, ne? Although I feel bad at times. XP Once me and my friends decided for like, the first time ever, to throw paper at someone. xD And the bell rang a few seconds afterwards and the teacher asked us to the pick up the rubbish. DX She was like "I know it wasn't you girls who did this but could you please pick it up?" And we were all like ">_>; Okay.."
Whoa! o_o That's a lot of players! Ahh yes, now I remember.. the wee sticks with a net on an end.. I think I've tried to play that once (and failed xD). Canada is an awfully sporty country. o_o
Ah? It's the opposite here.. we've got this Slave Auction thing where the money raised from it goes to a charity or some such thing but the grade 12s are up for auction to be your slave for a day (or a lunchtime or something.. I dunno, I've never been to the auction coz I was never interested). ^_^;
It's epickly (sp?) fun. XD I feel bad at times, too, but I usually get over it. But there's one I can't stop feeling bad about: My friends and I were prank-calling for fun, and I called the psych ward and told them I was hooked on phonics. >.< "The P and he H.. I love how when you put them together, it makes an F sound! It's fascinating!" The lady on theend hung up on me and I felt bad. D:
We actually played with 50 people once... It was chaos. It was for a French heritage fesival... The French were shown lacrosse by the Native Americans, so we played it... ><' My friend got hit in the face three times. XD
We're not that sporty... We like sports, but I mean, frankly, hockey is the only thing our country is good at. We're bred for it. >w<'
Oh, I like that idea better! The Grade 12s automatically hate the Grade 9s, so sometimes on Frosh day they get abused. I heard about this one kid who got his fingers slammed in a car trunk multiple times, he was then saran-wrapped and thrown in the trunk and driven all around town like that. D: It makes me so scared for next year when I hear stories like that...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lilhazelnutta In reply to inu-jyunishi [2008-07-17 06:55:11 +0000 UTC]
Aww... >< I haven't prank-called before. If I suspect I'm being prank-called I get really angry. xDDD Once the phon went and I picked it up and no one said anything.. happened about 3 times before I told Gran she could get the phone.. I think the person felt bad when they realised there was an old lady on the other end then and they didn't call back. <<
o_o Fun! But your poor friend! xD
But canadians are still quite mad about the hockey, ne? Kiwis are usually more keen on rugby (not me xD) or netball or cricket or rowing. Those are the ones I hear about most, anyway. We've got a hockey team called the Black Stix I think. =/?
xD You should suggest that idea... that way the younger people wouldn't be bullied and the seniors are humbled a bit. Wow... that's really cruel what they did to that guy.. 0_0;;
