Description
Crunching leaves, snapping twigs
The earth stretches into three paths beneath her feet.
Which road to choose? Yellow, red or blue?
Her paths of choice,
One uncertain,
One guarded,
One ne'er to be travelled by her shoes.
Wistfully she observes the third,
Praying it will open to her.
Slowly, reluctantly, she understands.
Slowly, reluctantly, she looks away.
Upon the second blue eyes travel,
Observing damage, pain and hurt.
Yet tempted to fix it she may be,
Worries about emotional safety echoe through.
Glancing upon the eldest road,
One with most daage, wear and tear,
the tenderest of the three,
Although she's travelled this path before
New adventures lay,
Obstacles she wonders if she can conquer.
Safety upon this road however
Is worse than with number two.
Standing back to see the paths
She considers carefully the pros and cons.
Road number one offers comforts of old,
Adventure of new.
Risk of vulnerability is high,
The past experience is nervewracking.
Road number two offers
Safety, security, loyalty, and a never broken path.
However, the cons rely on past loyalties and
Uncertainties upon the cracked ground.
Path number three, the saddest one of all.
In the distance she can see
Light, summer sun, and warmth of passion.
A promise of pure happiness and peace.
Before the ligjt
Dark covers the pathway.
The sleek black omens warning,
The shadows frightening.
Heavy sigh uncertainty reigns.
Looking around her surroundings she see's a director's chair.
Walking over inspecting,
She sees a note:
Do stay 'til you decide.
So with reluctant heave and sharp intake of breath,
SHe stares at the three-speared fork in the road
And sits in impatient wait.
