Astatine is a doe who others see as cold and emotionless. The truth is, she has spent much of her life learning to simply control her emotions. Her past has shown her that they can lead to pain. She pretends not to care about much, but in reality she is kind and loving. She was born with the skills of a natural leader, but she always pushes down the urge to take control of situations, believing she is unworthy to lead and knowing that to do so would be to draw attention to herself. Though she is considered a very beautiful doe, she prefers to stay out of mind of others. She is rarely seen around other Fawnlings, preferring her own company.

History:

Astatine’s father had been a royal guard, a mighty and very handsome stag that stole the heart of a beautiful silver doe. This doe eluded the attention of the stag to protect herself from the focus of the herd. But soon she could not bear to be apart from him. She found herself drawn to his strength and perseverance to court her. They spent many short years together, they tried for fawns every rut but the doe seemed incapable of conceiving. The last rut that they were together was a magical one. Both were past their prime and almost considered elderly. One day the handsome guard went out on duty and never returned, it is hard to say what happened to him, whether a predator or natural disaster took him, but the loss was hard to bear for the lonely doe he left behind. When Astatine’s mother was found to be in fawn, the elderly doe was stricken with terrible nightmares about loosing her beloved fawn in the most terrible of ways. The grief of loosing her mate had twisted her mind into self-torture. Many nights she would refuse sleep in order to escape the dark spirits that gripped her mind. Astatine’s mother became very ill and weak. She began to slowly loose her mind. She made dream catchers beaded with turquoise gemstones. These gemstones were said to contain protective and healing energies. The old doe strung up these dream catchers all around her favourite resting spots in hopes of ridding herself of the dreadful nightmares and offering protection to her unborn fawn. But still her mind eluded her and before long the herd had accepted Astatine’s mother as completely insane. When Astatine’s mother finally came of time to give birth she was very weak and frail, barely strong enough to manage the ordeal. At the sight of the pale coated filly Astatine’s mother seemed to find away out of the smog that had held her mind and body for so long, she saw herself in the bright brown eyes of her child and found peace. Astatine’s mother passed shortly after her birth so all Astatine has left of her is the carefully crafted dream catchers. She remains in Glenmore but feels little attachment to the heard beings she has no family remaining.

The first few years of Astatine's life were relatively eventless, she kept herself out of the prying eyes of the royal stags and engrossed herself in the understanding of how the world works. she was often courted by stags but like her mother she was very good at ignoring their advances. When the horrors of Broccan's death shook the heard and The exile of the crown prince and his son set the herd into panic Astatine decided that living on the outskirts of herd society could be her home no longer. she knew that her heard needed her now more then ever. But what could a lowly commoner doe do? She readily accepted King Drustan as her king and even found herself feeling quite fond of the handsome young king. she allowed herself to be swept up in his harem for the rut of the year 757 and conceived her first fawn. Her son Dubhan was born the next spring. for once in her life she felt unconditional love for something that was more then memory. Dudhan's dark coat made her so proud and she knew that the king would be pleased as well. She still has a secret fondness for the King but knows that she is not worthy of his attention since she is not of royal birth.
