Neat stuff! For some reason I don't see many deaf characters. Blindness is relatively common, but few seem to think about what it would be like perceiving the world through a deaf person's perspective. I always like how you put a lot of effort into making your characters seem like real, organic people and not just common cliched archetypes.
Also, solid/opaque masks are bae. Masks in general are just rad.

Oooooo she looks good, nice colors, and nice design. I must say fro personal writings, its pretty funny to write deaf characters, story's and whatnot. I look forward to reading things you make with her in the future.

I think she does have potential as a good deaf character. I like her design but I'll have to judge her more whenever you have written down her background.

Well, it'll be awhile. It was a spur of a moment character with a burst of inspiration.
Accuracy advice would be nice if you know more in the area of the ASL of culture for her to be a little more accurate.
Not quite ready for full on reviews just yet.

That's fine, mate.
I can try helping you since I took ASL for two years and know some of deaf culture. //note I'm not the best at it but I can try

Ooh okay.
So from what I remember from my ASL class, deaf people (mostly those born deaf or losing it at a very young age) don't usually see their deafness as a bad thing, just how it's always been for them and they're okay with it. Not speaking for everyone since we're all different, this is just what I learned.
Also, a majority of deaf people have both hearing parents and rare for 2 deaf parents to have a deaf child.
Maybe Grinner could have had hearing parents that wanted to fix her deafness. Just a suggestion.

oh that's perfect! That's totally perfect Ann <3
It would make sense for her to have two hearing parents. It would explain the cochlear implant

xenosaurr In reply to InvaderIka [2016-11-03 22:49:35 +0000 UTC]
Okay, thank you!!
It's gonna be a little long, so please bare with me..
First, I'd like to say that it's nice you included the cochlear implant! Not a lot of people actually know they exist, so I thank you for including it. However, with the cochlear, you can't have it under your hair. The area around the cochlear usually has to be shaved to keep it safe. And with the interference with Slenderman, the cochlear already sounds static-y. (as shown here --> youtu.be/SpKKYBkJ9Hw )
And for the lip-reading part, lip-reading is an extremely hard skill to learn, and nobody has ever mastered it with deaf people. It's also only used when the deaf child is learning to verbally speak. It helps them comprehend, or try to, sounds.
And the last thing I'd like to point out, is that when she would giggle, keep in mind that it wouldn't sound like laughter at all. It would most likely just sound like random noises.
This is all I can really give some advice on to make her more realistic. I took an asl class, and along with learning sign language I learned a lot about deaf culture and how things actually work for deaf people. I just wanted to give some insight for it. Good luck with her, her design looks cute too!
