The stand-offish, if not defensive pose of Erik and Raoul, it impresses one as they both stand at a distance to assess each other as rivals in scrutinizing manner, which lends a subtle intensity of ambiance in the scene.
The expression on Erik denotes an alert intimidation, perceiving this young man could hold a strong sway on Christine, esp how this man has the advantage of carnal comeliness, a noble status with wealth to boot, and a stable, charming persona which nails the last nail for Erik given what many shallow people would view as deficiencies(i.e., his deformity, his exile from normal living and society, his unstable mental aberrations caused his tragic life and insurmountable genius).
Raoul exudes a cool, overconfident mien, not unusual of a youth of his means. His expression appear to goading Erik into some challenge or at least assessing what threat Erik holds for hi, though he does this like one in some competition.
The clothes are accurate for the set era, esp the details of the chains for pocket watches and keys, and other haberdashery accessories deemed necessary and haute corte for the time. The details with the clothes textures is impressive, seldom do artists take the time to create them.

I know this is Raoul, but the expression on his face reminds me so much of Christian Chase, the Raoul/Piangi figure in my on-going Phanfiction, Through the Mist. I like the attention you gave to creating great outfits for both Erik and Raoul; the only part that ruins it for me is Erik's face. It just... it just doesn't seem right to me.

Well I do like my characters to be relatable and recognizable ^^ I live drawing clothes for them it's my fave part!!
Well he's sorta meant to look like MC [link] mind telling what I did wrong so I can fix it in the future?

For one, draw in his right eye.
For two, make his lips look less prominent to bring out his mouth.
For three, soften the glare a little bit. (I know he and Raoul despise each other, but Erik thinks Raoul is foppish and not right for Christine and not really evil, except for the fact that he is taking the one woman who could ever love him away from him.)

His eyes are supposed to me mismatched. His mouth is supposed to look all wonky too but perhaps I'm not getting what your trying to say o__0
Oi I know I know V_V I should've done that especially since the scanner all but obliterated the phantom's cheek bones >>; too bad to, it was my favorite part of the drawing....I'll probably fix that later...

Uh, no...I don't ever remember Erik saying he thought Raoul was 'foppish' Phans maybe...but not the phantom 0.o sooooo what are you saying I should change his expression or.....?

Hmm... Charles Dance Phantom certainly thought that about Phillipe/Raoul. I get the mismatched eyes thing, but I prefer seeing a normal mouth on my phantoms, and not one swollen with stage makeup so as it makes him speak with an unintended lisp.

O rly? when did he say that?
ah...so that was basically personal preference biased as oppose to universal talent and technique biased >>; I worried for nothing....

Yea sure, all Phantom's think that but "foppish" doesn't mean unworthy or not good enough to say someone is foppish means that they're very flamboyant and put makeup on you know...Fop [link] !!!

You haven't seen Charles Dance Phantom. I can tell from your responses. If you'd seen that, you'd know what I mean.

Dude...I flippen OWN it [link] (you can see it in the background) and yea he thinks a nuisance and a pretty boy but NEVER said or even HINTED to him being a fop I mean...I just...Don't get what your saying

AnaxErik4ever In reply to InvaderPhantomstar1 [2011-04-05 22:26:18 +0000 UTC]

Well, Erik may never say it, but it's blatantly obvious for all us Phangirls out here. I dare say that this Phillipe makes Patrick Wilson look masculine and un-foppish!

InvaderPhantomstar1 In reply to AnaxErik4ever [2011-04-05 22:37:01 +0000 UTC]

STOP USING FOP LIKE THAT!! If you must then say feminine or girly! And yes, Philippe was quite flamboyant...but he sure was purdy besides my Raoul isn't even based on him or Patrick Wilson. (30% Leroux 70% brainchild)
But what was the point??? what did you have to say that would better my drawing??

Yea he can be a little cynic sometimes don't let that (as Leroux put it)"calm, dreamy disposition" fool you << >>

I know I had to sit down and cool off for while after I finished it

Well the thing about him being a little cynic was just my own conclusion I only quoted Leroux on the "calm, dreamy" part
