"Are you sure you are ok to make it back home on your own? We can walk you there" Ion asked as the boys got to the central square of Eios, "yes I am sure, still a bit shaken from all that has happened but I will be ok" Zephyr replied with a small smile before he gave a little worried look at Ion, "maybe you should ask yourself the same question, I think you are the one who doesn't look too good." "Don't worry Zephyr, I will be with him, I won't go back home until I get Ion back as well" Flint intervened as Ion and Flint waved goodbye to Zephyr as he headed on home in one direction, as the other two went off in a separate direction, towards the Citadel, they were bot silent as the walk continued at a slow pace, Ion seamed to be in a world of his own as Flint kept a close eye on him, something was bothering him in the back of his mind and Flint felt he needed to be there for him, hopefully he would confide in him what was wrong so they could work it out together. "Hey Ion..." Flint said as he stopped, Ion bumping into him as was still in a world of his own but was snapped back by the unmovable force that was Flint's demeanor, "I know something is weighing on you, we are friends after all, more then that, you can tell me what's wrong, maybe I can lift your load a bit" Flint spoke out as Ion looked up slightly at him, with Flint being a slightly taller stature though not by much, some moments passed before Ion took a deep breath, "today was the first day I fet hopeless, that I didn't have the ability to protect or save my friends..." Ion started saying with tears in his eyes as Flint wrapped his arms around him, holding him tightly in a strong embrace fueled by his ability of Gaia, "it's ok, you know, it is not fair for you to always have to be the one that has to carry that burden, to be the one that has to have the answer to everything, I promise from now on I will help take a load off your shoulders, I might not be as good yet but I am willing to learn" Flint said in a comforting tone as Ion wiped away the tears in his eyes, "thanks, but you don't need to push yourself, today was an eye opening experience for myself as well, I vow to make sure no harm comes to pass to both of you again, I will stake my life on making sure both you and Zephyr always make it home in one piece" Ion said with determination, "just don't push yourself too hard on that one" Flint added, "you don't think we want the same for you?" Flint continued asking his question to Ion, "I know but it is a bit different for me, I am the leader of our group and as such it is my burden to bare..."

THREE YEARS LATTER

"Look! Another one" Ion said picking up a red jewel and placing it in a small satchel, "this target is so careless, leaving so much of their stolen goods behind, it is too easy if they make a trail leading right up to them" Flint said somewhat cheery though with disappointment in his voice, "still though, we need to be careful, we don't know yet if this is a trap or not" Zephyr said as he scoured the nearby area for any signs of hidden others watching them. 'Don't think so, it is like all the other Contract we keep getting" Flint said annoyingly, "wish the Hunters would have more faith in us and give us some better Contracts then just petty thieves" he continued as Ion stood up and turned towards his friends, "they won't do that until they know we can ear our keep" Ion started saying, "we have to prove it to them that we are worthy of being full fledge Hunters, Master Arturo may of got us in the door but the rest was up to us" Ion continued as his friends started to feel invigorated again, "so with any opportunity we get, no matter how small, lets show them we have what it takes, that Master Arturo was right to put his trust in us when putting his reputation on the line with the Hunters by recommending us as special cases, we decided to do this the hard way, the trials to become a Hunter are tough but keeping the favor of a X rank Hunter to bypass them is a whole lot tougher then any trial that we would of encountered there, a full trial by fire, so remember, even newbies from those trials would not be let on the rank of Hunts we are currently doing, if you feel down about how the rest of the Hunters are maybe treating us, just remember that, they do have more faith in us as somewhat outsiders then newly of their own!" Ion finished as the rest of his friends smiles and looked ready for action. "Ok then, I am in, what's the plan for this one?" Flint said with vigor as Ion smiled back, "first create a diversion, Flint, conjure some of your Gaia swords and hidden in the trees, start throwing a few at them, they will most likely be deflected but that's when you can make them explode" Ion started saying, "got it! That is right up my alley" Flint said cheerfully, "Zephyr, that is when you come in, under the cover of the exploding swords, use your wind discreetly to deflect any shrapnel in your way while attacking and pushing back the target, they will think that was your move attacking them, at least at first" Ion continued as Zephyr nodded, "yes but that will only for a little bit though, they will realize with my skill level will not be on par with theirs and would be able to counter attack quite fast" Zephyr said raising a concern, 'they may have more skill and experience then us but we are craftier and more honed in our own skillsets them them, judging from the sloppy trail they have made that we can put those to effective use, one opening is all we need to take down our mark. When they start counterattacking, Flint will start firing off arrows at them to draw their attention that there are two people there attacking them, one from up clos and one from range, they will realize that the exploding swords would have come from Flint and will want to take him out first, that is where we will catch them off guard, from the shadows, I will make my strike as they go for Flint, once critical hit with my blade will put them down, all I got to do is keep my presence hidden so they don't realize I was there the whole time, the hidden punch of the Dragonkin" Ion finished saying. "You always seam to figure out how to best use our abilities given the situation and come up with the perfect plans" Zephyr started saying, "I been having doubts that we, well at least me are these special cases and I am just along for the ride, but I know for one thing you sure are with that mind and talent of yours and Flint with his arsenal of gadgets and abilities, I just hope I can keep up" Zephyr finished as Ion placed a hand on his shoulder, "you doubt yourself too much, you are right there with us Windfox, we could not accomplish anything without you as well" Ion said in an encouraging tone as the boys set off on their mark, finding them not too far ahead with the plan going off smoothly, each actor playing their part perfectly as the contract ended with success, "alright then, another one down" Ion said joyfully as the boys raised their weapons in victory over the fallen target, "lets report back to Master Arturo and let him know we are ready for another one!"
