I've never really thought of it as tragic myself; not the happiest, but not really tragic either. I haven't played the Burial At Sea DLC yet though, so I don't know if maybe that would shine more light on things. I'm sure there's some lighthouse out there though where they might be living more peaceful lives.

Haven't played the DLC neither myself. Tho from I what I can tell from the main game is that well... as you say its not completely tragic, because *spoilers if someone else is reading this* Booker brought this unto himself the moment he decided to give Anna/Elizabeth away.
Yet as you say, I want to believe that among the infinite lighthouses, there's one where they managed to live a happy peaceful life as dad and daughter.

Oh well... just life being the way it is you know?? when something is not really meant for you, it's not and all you have left is to accept it and move on.
