~~~~~~~My mom just called and told me my mémé (grandmother) passed away.. I am heartbroken I didn't get to say goodbye properly and even more hurt I wont get the chance to. She informed me there would be no funeral or wake.. So I can not come to Maine and pay my respects to her as I hoped I would be able to when this time came. (Thanks to my so called 'Aunt', she decided there would be no funeral or wake for her.. I have never felt such disrespect towards a family member.)
I love you mémé.. You lived a long, wonderful life. I've missed you everyday and I will never stop missing you. But we all knew this day would come, and I knew you had to leave us eventually. You were always a fighter, Mémé, and you taught all of us to be strong. I'm glad my last visit with you was at least a good one.. My last memory with you was getting to put a smile on your beautiful face. I'll cherish that

I lost my Baba last year in April and it was a heartbreaking moment for me.
I rode a bus for 42 hours to go to her funeral and 42 hours back as well.
I miss her so much and i think about her all the time.

Yeah, it's so sad how everything always comes down to money like that. Before my grandpa died, we were struggling to pay his medical bills and his wealthy brother all but refused to help out.
So, I get it. People who care more about money than their own family are down right disgusting. I'm sorry you guys have to deal with someone like that.

I understand your grief, I went through something similar with my Grandpa, I never got to say goodbye to him, there was a funeral but it was all the way in Washington and my dad was the only one to go, I felt so sad and heartbroken for such a very long time, and I still do even though it has nearly been three years, I do have to say that you must let yourself grieve, don't try to just stop, even if people say she wouldn't have wanted you to do that, you have to ride out the emotions, you'll always miss her, without a doubt, I bet she was an amazing person, may she rest in peace.

She said it was what my Mémé asked for, was to just be buried by her late husband.. but she said that on meds so it was the mind of a sick and dying woman, not completely conscious.
The entire family wanted a funeral for her, but my aunt, being her first born child, had legal rights to decide whether to have a funeral or not.. and she chose not to.
She's been bouncing religions, detaching herself from the family because of it, went from Christian to Jewish to Jehova.. basically no one takes her seriously anymore. She only came around when she needed help..
I literally only think she didnt do it to save money. She's selfish and I'm honestly ashamed to call her my aunt.
No funeral means I dont get to apply for funeral leave at work and I dont get time off to fly home and pay my respects.. so i dont get to say goodbye.
