This is actually how my Cat Odysseus was found... he was left in a box alone in a garbage can. He was crying when a family friend found him and took him in. He was covered in fleas and too young to be away from his mom. She couldn't keep him though and was asking around if anyone wanted him. My husband and I took him and he has been the absolute best cat I've ever had.
Makes me so mad that people can do this sort of thing to not only cats and dogs but also human babies too... so sad.
