Beautiful photo. Thank you iraqiguy. It reminds me of photos I've taken of the Shrine to Sayidda Zeinab in Damascus, Syria. Very similiar colours, and design.

When I was very young, my dad told me this type of design was only made in Tunisia. since then it's seeming more and more that either he wasn't telling me the truth or maybe that I understood him in a more absolute sense than he meant.

This was in Dubai, because I left Dubai a while ago i can't recall the area name, it's just down the road from the Ministry of Finance close the 3abra (creek crossing)

I think I saw this mosque when I was in Dubai a month ago was the mosque designed all like that right? was blue i think Iranian style of design, I believe it was called Massjed Imam Hussain (as), I saw it on my way to the airport tried taking a picture of it from the car but it was blurry, amazing mosque mashallah was real nice

i'm really not sure what it was called, but there are a number of shia mosques in the uae. Sharja has one that i know of and i'm sure Dubai has more than one, so yeah.

yeah there is a handful of shia mosques in Dubai, there was a mosque every where i went mashAllah was amazing, I miss dubai

the emirates is not dawla islamiya, it's almost not a muslim majority country. But yeah i guess there are more mosqes

its more of a Muslim environment I think. Halal food everywhere, Mosques, easy access to islamic clothing, lots of Muslims (majority being foreigners but they still are Muslims). You don't get to hear the athan in the US, easy to pray in UAE then USA, there are prayer rooms everywhere in the UAE, clean bathrooms to keep yourself clean (طاهر
And most importantly for a Muslim women, your not going to be discriminated against for wearing your hijab in UAE

i wish that were the case. And i do admit that having mosques everywhere came in handy and the halal food everywhere did gain me a few extra kilo's.
However like i said before, unless you're willing to part with some basic rights, you're not gonna be comfortable much in the ME.
And it pains me to say this but (and this is from personal experience) you as a woman would have much easier time in the US than in the ME. where every ethnicity has a different way of flirting, harrassing and generally giving women a hard time.
In the US (well in Australia so i'm guessing the US is sorta similar) you're clear about your identity and you can identify with Muslims, and no matter the political social situation, you have the freedoms and flexibilities to build and fix and change etc... Not so much in the government controlled religious affairs ministry where relegion is a business or a keepsake rather than a clear way of life.
But anyways i wasn't planning on starting a long discussion on this. i wish you all the best whichever country you stay in

I think our views depends on our experience and what we had to face throughout our life, I can tell you I have been discriminated against in the US a handful of times to the point where one time I almost got into a car accident because some idiot didn't like me or for what ever reason the driver tried her best to get me into a car accident but Alhmdulilah Allah is the protector after the driver gave up she kept cursing at me when my car passed hers.
I felt more respected in UAE, no one looked at me in a bad way no one dared to flirt or harass me alhmdulilah. I challenge anyone to find me a gov. that is not corrupt, they all are but it goes down to the environment your living in and the people around you. I know I had some stares from some Emaratie ladies maybe its because I was dressed in a western clothing but thats understandable.
With all honesty I would rather live in a country where it doesn't tax me on every little thing and then uses those tax money to go start wars

yes well again it seems this is the third or forth time I clarify that this pic exhibits the beauty of a certain style of architecture, please treat it as no more than that, I'm sure that currently thousands of forums around the world are fighting the shia-sunna debate, I do not wish this page to be one of them.
