All the large male could feel in the moment was rage. There was nothing else in all of Gustave’s experience that even came close to what he was feeling now. His mother, his shoulder to cry through countless hard times, lay on the ground having been thrown there like a lifeless ragdoll. Adam stood over her with a sickening pride in what he’d done. He was her master, she could do nothing. He’d been the master of all of them for as long as Gustave could remember and he would be for as long as they let him. This would all end now, right now if Gustave just got rid of him.

And that’s exactly what he’d do.

A more “artistic” version of Gustave’s fight with his father (since I obviously simplified the background to focus more on the characters).

Even months after killing his father, Gustave feels immense shame in what he did. Even so, he’d do it again if he had to.
