Description
Isfahan, currently one of the largest cities in Iran, has been the capital of numerous Persian dynasties. It's glory started after the Islam's invasion of Persia and continued as it expanded and developed through the rule of different kings. Right now, it holds a great many unique Islamic buildings and the whole city is much like a museum filled with historical sites.Its the birth place of great people and interesting stories. I was looking at the book Medicus - its called The physician in English I believe - and the mood in the book inspired me to do a paint a scene on a every day scene. The scene painted here is all based on existing buildings in the city and the color scheme is closely followed.
This took rather a long time to finish. Not quite sure how long as I lost track of time, and since I started with a grayscale and only after adding 100 % detail did I start coloring it, it took even longer than it would have normally. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do if not more

This is absolutely gorgeous! I am so sorry we never got to see Isfahan when we lived in Iran. We had planned a visit, but the Revolution got in the way. I would love to go back, someday.

We arrived in March 1978, and left end of January of beginning of February 1979, about the time the Shah left. I don't remember exactly, anymore. It's been a while! We were supposed to be there for 2 years, but the Revolution got in the way. My high school in Tehran was so much better than the one in the States. I'm just glad I was old enough to appreciate it, and remember things.

I am writing a novel set in Ancient Persia and I am soooo glad I found your photos because they are a great visual reference for me. I love how vibrant they are and it really helps me picture the places that I want to be writing about.

There are so many details here that it's mind blowing, and that perspective--incredibly skillful! I often struggle with it for lack of a place to begin. Did you use a grid of some sort? o:

This is so gorgeous, I can't even think of the amount of effort and patience it must have taken to finish this. The end result is stunning, all the colors and details are beautiful. It really makes me want to visit these places!
