I can see that the image is reduced in size, is this because you have gotten this picture by recording video and then taken the frame that you wanted to use, or have you just been luck and had the camera open at the right time, and then resized it.?
But no matter what, it's an amazing picture.!

No, this is a photo. I actually randomly took photos for about an hour. At one point, the lightnings started to appear quite frequently. I hit the shutter as soon as I saw one flash of light, and I was able to capture the next one.

Lucky, I have tried to take pictures of lightning, and the last time there was a real thunderstorm was on my vacation to Spain; I think I took 100 pictures and only 5 of them was good 
What settings did you have on your camera.? It looks like your EXIF data is missing ^^

Yes, I was lucky that the lightnings appeared so frequent. The right way to do it would be to set a tripod and shoot long exposures like 30 seconds. That way, you have long enough time to capture a lightning. I couldn't have done that since I was on a boat. But things turned out quite well
The settings: f/4.2, 1/80 s, iso 200, 32 mm.
