I started this for *Rusky-Boz 's birthday. Weeeks ago D; But I've been very busy and couldn't finish it.I think I'm going crazy, I actually enjoyed painting this background
Suggestions welcome except... Nami's right arm is weird, don't point that out plz ;]

The wave itself is believable, so the main problem is with the elbow. The bend, instead of the slant going from left to right, needs go from right to left, basically in the direction of the elbow. The line is the fold-line of the skin, if you get my meaning.

You.. you mean to say you painted that background yourself? 
That water is INCREDIBLE! You can really see a sense of depth and murkiness to it from the surface. And the silhouette of the landscape together with the dawn light, just amazing amazing amazing.
And of course the Lunami as the cherry on top. I love the glints in Nami's eyes and lips. And Luffy looks great too. He seems older somehow. No concrits here (besides the arm which you already noted.) Fave times a hundred.

I really don't like the idea of using previous paintings like I did with Pepper, the outcome looks.. fake? So I said to myself to stop being lazy and actually spend some time on the background D:
The main trick was painting the bg first and not the characters. Because the characters is the fun part, so if I start with them then I rush the bg!
But it's still lazy, because the sky is a boring gradient, the mountains are against the light so no detail needed XD
And then the water I did spend time zoomed in drawing splish splosh [if you could zoom in further you'd see that up close it doesn't make any sense!].
So it's not as complicated as it looks ;]

I'm glad you went with the un-lazy route and painted the bg in. I agree that there's something.. off about photos being used as backgrounds (unless its for comedic purposes).
And the sky being a plain gradient works better since it prevents the whole thing from being too visually busy. And whether it 'makes sense' or not, the splishing foam looks good! Don't know how you did it, even by zooming in, your technique's just a mystery to me. But I'm glad to be able to enjoy its results.

It's just that lately I've learned to draw by steps, so I take huge breaks in between in the same painting [before I used to draw everything in one go!].

Hmm... not much to say, I love the detail in the background and the lighting x3 But for some reason, the fuzzy lineart is bugging me. I don't know; it just looks odd ;O Like you're trying to go completely lineless but are holding back.

I always feel like having to draw linearts with One Piece XD They have *special* faces, so I don't feel right taking out the lineart. Maybe I should ;3
