Description
The second catching picture for this gorgeous bab! He will belong to Faith (Glimmer)
"You'll love this one, the catcher's saw it and thought it'd be perfect for you." Ace filled in the silence happily as he tugged gently on the reins, bringing Jelly to an easy walk. The mare had already scented the stranger, her ears were pricked forward and her head was held high. As they pushed past the last of the trees, the lake came into view, revealing a solitary pink Kelpie, ears also swirled in their direction and he watched them cautiously, though calmly. Ace glanced down, watching the expression on his daughter's face change as she spotted the yearling in the lake, her eyes widened, there was a small intake of breath and she learned forward from where she sat snugly in front of her father.
"Do you want to catch that one?" Ace asked, a smile already on his face, he already knew the answer but the eager nodding from Faith simply confirmed it and Ace chuckled as he tugged the reins a little more to bring his own Kelpie to a halt. Getting down, he gently lifted down his small companion and set her on the ground,
"Why it all alone?" The question was almost too quiet for Ace to hear, he felt her small hand slowly seek out his and he gave it a gentle, encouraging squeeze.
"The herd thought it would be too dangerous for him to stay with them because his colour is too easily seen by not so nice animals, so they sent him away to live with us where he'll be safe." He responded, which was putting it much more lightly than reality, but the yearling had been caught and directed somewhere safe. This was the second time Ace had seen the Kelpie, the first had been with Flower when they came to see if it would be safe enough to give to Faith, with supervision of course. But the Kelpie was calm and quiet despite having his hyper moments, perfect for their little daughter. It was at this moment that the pink Kelpie began to see it was safe with these two new creatures and slowly began to approach, head forward, ready to race off at the slightest odd movement.
But Ace knew not to make any sudden movements, Faith too knew this almost instinctively. Ace felt her had clench onto his pants, seeking reassurance as she extended her other hand towards the Kelpie, gaining it's trust with every safe step it took.
"What are you going to name him?" Ace asked softly as not to alarm the new Kelpie who'd recently allowed little Faith to slip a rope over his head. The little girl turned to her father, the glimmer of excitement in her eyes as she answered equally softly,
"Princess."
Kelpie Spring Chase OPENThe Kelpie Spring Chase
Spring is the time of renewal and new beginnings. The Kelpieherds return from their journey through the stallions territories all over Europe, to a place where they can give birth to their foals or have a safe place for those already born. In this time it is possible for those at EH to manage the herd in order to keep it healthy and at a good size. Foals will be taken care of, should they be abandoned and yearlings will be sorted out, if they start to be nuisance for the herd. In addiotion, individuals will be picked out to tame and rehome.
