This is my final for my Intro to Illustration class. We had to pick one of three famous people and illustrate their 'moment of demise'. The only person I really recognized from the list was Amelia Earhart, so I decided to pick her.

I did a bunch of research on her and her life, and I found that she was actually a really cool person. She did a lot in her life, and she had almost completed her trip around the world when she disappeared somewhere over the ocean. It's a pretty sad story...she was so close.

That's what I wanted to focus on in my piece. No one is really sure what happened to her, so rather then showing the plane crashing or her deserted on an island or something, I chose to illustrate a really really tiny plane flying towards some massive storm clouds. The plane is so small and fragile....I'm hoping the viewer gets the feeling that the plane is in trouble.

I used the same technique that I developed in my 'Remember Me' piece- [link]
I'm getting a bit better at it, but I don't like how the ocean turned out. You can't really tell it's water.

Anyways, I've been working on this since about 1am, and it's now 10:30am XD So I think I'm going to go sleep~
