The large black areas are just done with a shading tip on a professional iron. It's faster than with a walnut hallow iron, but not quite as smooth on close inspection. I do find it's best to burn with the grain when you can. Finer shading I prefer to do with a walnut Hallow iron and a voltage regulator. Also...the universal tip makes some of the sharpest lines.

Your quite welcome. I mostly just recreate existing images, so it wouldn't be my right to tell you to burn different pics, even if I didn't want you to.
Glad my advice helped. Also, I didn't design the Miku, but it did take like 4 months.

pyrograph? I'm not quite familiar with the terminology.
But the picture was pencil drawn, line burned with a universal tip, and shaded
with a walnut hallow "professional" burning pen and shading tip.
