Do you know if it is possible to reinforce a bow enough to use it as a weapon and still have it be a bow afterwords? Cool design in any case.

Well, since this is a pure thrusting sort of a blade I would say yes. It's pretty much meant to allow an archer a last ditch 'jab' before he gets overrun.
