As often, this depends also on the way you define it for yourself.
Not only, but at least partly.

You may define it as an illness, or as a feeling, like saying: "Oh well, what will be?". This last possibility would fit somehow with the picture, as you don't see far in the mist.

In the mist, you don't see the end of the road. In a similar way, in certain situations of life, you can find it hard to see "the end of the road" in the future.
"Melancholy" could be called the feeling you get from this anxiety about the future.
