Nicknames: Niagara (by many), Express Girl (by Bruce), Falls (by Nisa).

Allies: Moris, Connor, Caitlin, Timken, Stella, Judy, Lake.

Personality: downhearted, fast, hardworking, on time, no-nonsense, helpful, lonely, anti-social, strong.

Role: freight engine

Description: Nia Niagara is an ex-New York Central Niagara locomotive who got her last name after the Niagara River and Falls. So were her siblings too, as they pulled freight and passengers. Nia however, preferred freight over passengers. She is also an express engine too, as that term can literally apply to many big engines, regardless if they pulled freight or passengers.

Life was good for her and the others, up until diesels began taking over. In which Nia was among one of the Niagara locomotives to be retired throughout the 50s. She was retired in 1956 and got sold for scrapped. However, she along with some other NYC steam engines (minus Caitlin and Connor, who were bought by a private owner) got sold to Railtopia. It took 5 years to restore her back to operation, Nia was good as new. She is able to out-best any northern type, due to her performance that she and her siblings had.

Unfortunately though, she grew downhearted, lonely, and anti-social, due to her being the only survivor of her late brothers and sisters. However, her other sibling Veronica was saved from scrap too, but hadn't seen each other in a long time. While she proved to be useful, she would avoid events, including Christmas parties as it only served as a painful reminder of her being the last of her kind. And like most steam engines, she sees new things as new fangled nonsense like end-of-train-devices, intermodal freight, etc, as she prefers things the old way.

Despite this, she is a very useful engine who prefers to pull express freight. Albeit manifests and unit trains, as she's rarely assigned to intermodal trains and auto trains too. Nia is also sometimes assigned to pull passengers. She is also good friends with Stella, all for who she is, but also because she's an excursion start nowadays.
