What a perfect sentiment. You have such a gift for expressing yourself with ink and pen and paint...and there are so many of us who know exactly what you mean about growing out of the awkward phase...though in truth, I think everyone still has those moments of reversion, regardless.

I do the same thing. People have to asked me, "Why did you mention that?" or "Was this conversation headed this way?" The best is when I start to stutter...or better yet...I forget everyday words during conversation. They are in my head...I swear...they just won't come out. Then goofy, off the wall stuff comes out in their place. OI! I need to bring a teleprompter wherever I go. That should solve everything
..then the only awkward part is me looking for an outlet...lol. Oh no...I can just imagine me..."Excuse me, can we take our conversation to the other side of the room? This outlet is not grounded"

I used to go off on these tangents a lot. After a while I learned to control my ramblings, but it can go the other way too and make you a recluse.
So do express yourself, it's who you are. You've already shown us how insightful you are!

The worst is when you think you've explained yourself adequately but still come away asking yourself "Did I just rip him a new one?" That happens way too often when I write to my brother.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who consistently communicates exactly what they want, feel or need to other people.
The only time I've ever been able to do it is if I somehow know what the other person's going to say prior to the conversation.
But if it's any consolation? I've always understood you, even when all you say is "man in a top hat with a monocle."

I feel exactly the same way, and I have since I was about 17 years old. I am currently 23.
This reminds me of an old comic in the sunday funnies... it was a kid sitting with his parents at the dinner table and the mom said, "Is it so hard to share what's on your mind?", or something to that nature, and in the next frame it showed the kid's thoughts and it basically looked like a notebook page full of doodles and scribbles.
I have it hanging around amongst my stuff somewhere. I cut it out because it described how my mind is.
