I think what I like most about her is the psuedo-KH style she's got going, and the weapons are also pretty cool.

Brooke's outfit was themed from summer fashion, as you can plainly tell. But most summer outfits, especially fashionable ones, always have sandals for footwear. Brooke is a close combat brawler, so giving her sandals wouldn't really make sense, so I went with a more sensible alternative.

Did you watch the Remnant History about Dust ? Will the new info affect Brooke's (And possibly Kaneli's) fighting ability ? (I have been having that question since Volume 1, since most of the Dust has certain element in it).

From all that info, I don't think it'll affect Brooke's abilities. To be honest, my only concern was "what spells correspond to the different colors of Dust?"
One the subject of Kaneli's abilities, no changes either. The video did confirm that it is indeed possible to combine Dust, which works out for Kaneli's skills.

I think it works fine. Hell, each team in RWBY doesnt have main color references. Only team RWBY does. JNPR is genderbent legends. CRDL is birds. Etc.

That's just the themes of each team. The name of the teams are actual names of colors. Have you read Monty's RWBY naming rules?

I'd change her last name. RWBY characters are based off the original fairytales, not disney princesses. The original Little Mermaid makes no mention of the mermaid's name.
