Description
Once I got done with my eleven "Thunders" characters I decided to do the dark twist on the theme and design eleven more characters themed around "Shorido" the code of "ethics" espoused by the Shadowlands-aligned Spider Clan. Shorido teaches its adherents to be self-sufficient, and just as with most things, could be used both for good or evil. The Spider Clan just tends to swing wildly evil. As a dark mirror to their righteous counterparts these individuals bear eleven magical weapons (nemuranai as they are termed in L5R) made of obsidian, a material associated with evil in the setting. As it would be boring (and difficult) to create eleven characters all using Spider Clan schools, I opted to draw in characters from the Great Clans who had been corrupted by the siren's song of Shorido and the lure of power.

The Spider, Daigotsu Arechi, a Daigotsu Bushi, he bears the obsidian katana, Ruthlessness

The Snake, Chuda Sawa, a Chuda Shugenja, he bears the obsidian scroll, Knowledge

The Crab, Hida Haikyo, a Hida Berserker, she bears the obsidian ono, Will

The Crane, Daidoji Shijin, a Daidoji Harrier, he bears the obsidian hankyuu and quiver, Perfection

The Lion, Akodo Sabaku, an Akodo Bushi, he bears the obsidian whip, Strength

The Mantis, Yoritomo Aranami, a Yoritomo Bushi, she bears the obsidian throwing knife, Discretion

The Owl, Yoshun Anya, a Kenku Swordmaster, she bears the obsidian nodachi, Independence

The Phoenix, Shiba Kaido, a Shiba Yojimbo, she bears the obsidian trident, Determination

The Scorpion, Yogo Mitsurin, a Yogo Wardmaster, she bears the obsidian fan, Control

The Unicorn, Horuichi Genya, an Iuchi Shugenja, he bears the obsidian flute, Vigilance
