Description James was always receiving a comfortable sort of words from his only brother long before he even came to Sodor, it was during his days as a goods engine on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway when he was painted black and had wooden brake blocks like all the other engines built by George Hughes. Now he was painted a new coat of red and had been very vain about it ever since Thomas helped him out of an accident that earned the blue tank engine his own branch line. -Thomas and the Great War, chapter four: Life on Sodor

You can call it "James' maiden voyage to Sodor", "James' L&YR days", whatever.

Model by wildnorwester, rolling stock by SI3D, Hilltrack Trainz Routes and the first part of the Colne to Skipton route on the DLS.

Lancashire? Wallace and Gromit are from Lancashire. Could it be before he came to sodor, James worked close to West Wallaby Street?

Very good! Very nice! But the Rev. W. Awdry stated that engines do not faces unless on Sodor, bud.
