Though not an ethically sound character, I found myself agreeing to his, in my opinion, rational way of thinking. Realistically, Dicaprio's character would never survive, his wounds were sure to be festering, and carrying him around would be a waste of time and a very great deal of pain to Hugh Glass. And then staying with Hugh Glass was a sure way to get back some of the lost money on the failed expedition. Killing his son was unfounded, can't argue with that, though probably more of a reflex action than a thought out act.

A tribute to Mr. Hardy, and a film that though not much to my taste, is undoubtedly a work of art.
