I'm so happy - I finally have my second character!!! I love Toro so much, and I love Ari, but I wanna draw a girl for once. :Y Here is my queen, Benten. *bows*
So excited to develop her and tell her story. I tried to make her quite different to Ari.

Benten is like a lake - calm on the surface, but swirling with passion underneath. In public she is the perfect Asukai lady; formal, serious, and well spoken, with a composed and confident air. She has a very strong sense of duty to her clan and Torogakure. Despite the graceful facade, she is strong willed and passionate, and struggles to keep her opinions and emotions bottled up. If she’s not careful, her face can rest in a grumpy or ‘bitchy’ expression.
Hiding under the regal outer demeanour is a troubled and doubtful young woman. She is often critical of herself and deeply afraid that her life is going to be worthless. Be that as it may, she is a private person and will be damned before she asks for help or complains. The fear and insecurity in her heart can often escape as irritability, stubbornness, or haughtiness.
Benten has spent much of her life being cowed by her mother and brother’s harsh treatment, and thus she has much compassion for the downtrodden of the world. Her immense compassion enables her to see the good in almost everyone. She thinks of bandits/criminals as desperate rather than evil. Shinobi from outside villages are just soldiers with a responsibility to carry out their duties (and she uses that moral code as a justification for her own violence as well). She becomes aggrandised by those who take pleasure in killing or causing pain. If she encounters such people, her compassion often turns into a black-and-white dogma about good and evil, where nothing will dissuade her from enacting some form of justice. Her duty to her clan and her moral compass often clash.
Ultimately Benten is a graceful and poised young woman determined to learn and contribute to the world, and eager to prove herself to her clan, her village, and herself. She has a desire to do her duty, but her ultimate wish is to be so powerful that she is invulnerable to pain and suffering, and therefore is ‘free’.

Backstory:
Benten’s childhood was relatively difficult. Her parents were in an arranged marriage and her father died when Benten was 7. Benten’s only memories of him are vague, but she remembers he was a sullen, difficult man. Benten’s mother has had high expectations for her as far back as she can remember. She was to join the Asukai Elite and be promoted to chuunin status by 16. Benten did not achieve this, and was shunned as a result. Benten’s mother continued to train her hard and push her expectations on her - trivialising or crediting herself for Benten’s few achievements. Benten’s brother Bontenmaru inherited his mother’s toxic behaviour and would pick on her. Only a few years older, he grew up to be a sexist, aggressive bully with a superiority complex. Benten despises him, and is secretly deeply jealous that he achieved chuunin status before her.

- she has a small, secret tattoo on her foot. don't tell anyone!
- she has a petite body shape (short torso, long limbs, flat chest)
- her voice actor would be Shiraishi Ryōko (the spider demon)
- her face match is Angela White
- she ties her hair back into double braids when she sleeps
