thank you so much! I remember that I had much trouble with the water here.

The water does look really great. Btw, did you know that waterbending was based on Yang Style Tai Chi--and, as I mentioned in that journal you asked me to do about myself--it's the style that I practice. . . which means that whenever I do Tai Chi I secretly pretend I'm waterbending.Β Β Β

No I haven't know it yet but that's great! and it's also great that you are doing it!
I also would pretend I'm waterbending if I knew that and if I would do Tai Chi
(Did I miss your journal? I have to check it out this evening!)

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-10-22 10:54:44 +0000 UTC]

I think I posted it the day after you left for your trip, so you might of just missed it. It's my most recent journal entry, so you're welcome to check it out when you feel like it.

Also, what's interesting as well. You know how redirecting lightning is based on a style of waterbending? well, the martial art they used for that style is a form of Tai Chi that is known as "straight sword" and when you aren't using a sword, you perform the movements with your two forefingers extended, like Aang and Zuko do.

So, I pretend to lightning bend as well!

And, we have a sword form, like the kind Zuko usesΒ Β

yes I checked it and commented it. I was really interesting to get to know you!

wow that's great to know! That's pretty awesome. You make me want to also do Tai Chi. I shouldn't be so lazy
So you can almost pretend to be the Avatar

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-11-02 08:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Almost! There is a new kata we are learning that reminds me of Earth bending, and there is one that replicates fire-bending styles . . . but i'm not the best at it. I just enjoy doing it because it makes me feel confident in my physical capabilities.Β

Tai Chi is fun. It's a more relaxed martial art, but it does have such good practical applications since its about redirecting your opponents energy, so you don't need to be super strong to do it.

And you can keep doing it until you are 80 or 90.

but that's the most important in doing sport! (or anything else) Have fun and enjoy what you are doing and youare the best for yourself! It's not necessary to be the best in class as long as you have fun. :3

that would be great for me since I'm small and not that strong!
But everything is so expensive here. I would like to do any sport but I don't have the money and at the moment I also have no time. So I'm still lazy as alsways sitting in front of my laptop in my free time.

That's exactly what my Sensei says. He says the only competition you have is against yourself, so, as long as you improve, you are doing great!

I know . . it's a pain when you can't do the stuff you want to because of time and money. I know that next year, I'm going to be hectic busy with my proper work, so I probably won't be able to do as much of my sport or writing or art next year (unfortunately!)

On the bright side, though, you can still do your AMAZING art!

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-11-16 12:13:15 +0000 UTC]

That is true. If you are happy with yourself many problem are disappearing. That's what I feel about my art. I'm very proud of it and I'm still working to get it at it's best. (People like I told you in a note aren't doing me a favour with asking about a cheaper picture..)

Oh no! but good luck with your work! I hope you'll still have fun!

hehe thank you. Yes, I try to do as much art as I can.
At the moment I'm working on my reference sheet for Avarus but it took so much time. I really hope to finish him and Saira soon because I really want to do art trades and see some pictures of my OCs by other artists. That would be so great. Β

I would love to see the reference sheets, but don't feel rushed to do it! You have a lot on your plate at the moment.Β Β

I'm writing my exam on Kafka's metamorphosis (in translation) tomorrow, so he's crawling around my brain.

I saw them! I think they look super fantastic! But, they look like they have alot of work in them.Β Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-11-22 11:30:00 +0000 UTC]

oh good luck then!
I remember Kafka's long sentences. Some of them where about a page long and at the end I forgot what he was talking about. It was really hard for me to follow his mind.

Thank you! yes it is a lot of work and I haven't work on them for 2 weeks now because I feel a bit bad about my shadings.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-11-22 18:02:39 +0000 UTC]

The English translation wasn't that bad--He sounds like Herman Melville in English. He also has a page long sentence and by the time you finish you wonder what the hell was going on.

Don't feel bad. Work according to your own pace. We'll all wait patiently. (and I'll whack anyone who doesn't)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-11-25 11:16:30 +0000 UTC]

I don't know Herman Melville. I would like to read an English sentence from Kafka to know if it's as complexe as the German ones.
btw I found a great quote: "Never knew before what eternity was made for. It is to give some of us a chance to learn German." I couldn't laugh harder

Thank you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-11-25 19:07:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that's a wonderful quote. The only one I found is for Russian (which I don't speak) it said "I'm like the Russian language--randomly stressed for no reason whatsoever"Β Β Β

I'll copy a Kafka sentence from my book and post it if you want. I think they simplified it, though.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-11-28 12:46:22 +0000 UTC]

haha I love that quote about the Russian language. I could ask my mother if that's true.

Yes, it would be great if you can show me an English sentence of him.
Possible that they simplified it. You can do so much in the German language which isn't possible in English. It's funny on the one hand you can place a word whereever you want but it's still possible to do it wrong.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-11-29 04:44:54 +0000 UTC]

I'd love to learn German--my one friend is studying it and loves it alot.Β Β  Please ask your mom, I'd love to know.Β

Kafka in English: "One morning, upon awakening from agitated dreams, Gregor Samsa found himself, in his bed, transformed into a monstorous vermin."

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-12-01 08:34:54 +0000 UTC]

Really? Great, I'm happy to hear that someone loves German that much. I forgot to ask my mom. I'll do it this evening!

That was an easy one but I guess there are more complex sentences as well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-12-01 08:58:27 +0000 UTC]

Definitely--or the translator decided to simplify it alot. The lecturer said that it happens frequently with Kafka.Β Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-12-01 13:20:24 +0000 UTC]

Possible, my experience so far with the English language: It is far more simpler in its structure. It's more straight forward than German. So I guess you can't make those sentences in English like Kafka did in German.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-12-02 04:55:51 +0000 UTC]

I think that might be the case here. Translated works always seem to loose something as opposed to the original.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-12-02 08:29:45 +0000 UTC]

that is true but some translated works are great. Ok I don't know the original but I love the book of Sergej Lukianenko a Russian author and the translation is more then awesome

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2016-12-02 19:48:23 +0000 UTC]

I agree. Some translated books are amazing. I red this short story "The Professor and the Siren" which was translated from Italian, and I thought was excellent. Also, "The House by the Medlar Tree" was translated from Italian and really good.

An intense, but really good novel is "A day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich." It's a fictional account of a prisoner in a Russian Gulag. A very moving novel.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-12-05 12:25:17 +0000 UTC]

I haven't heard of them so far but I'll take a look at them!

The book of Ivan Denisovich sounds interesting. This could be due to the fact that I noticed I like books written by Russian authors.

My personal all time favourite book series are "Sternenspiel" and "Sternenschatten" from Sergej Lukianenko. I couldn't find the English titles but translating them from the original Russian titles, they are called "The stars are cold toys" (the German title is "The Star Game") and "The Star Shadow". I loved them so much! Sergej often leaves the end unspecified or it has an end but so much happened that you're very confused about that.
But the series of Star Game was so amazing, so exciting with the most beautiful ending that I cried. I loved it. <3

Okay, I'm definitely going to see if I can find English translations of this author. I'm always looking for good stuff to read, and he sounds fantastic, so I'll give him a try. Thanks for the recommendations.

You like Russian authors, and I seem to like Italian ones!Β Β

haha true. I don't know if I've ever read a book from a Italian author.

I love reading, and I don't mind reading other genres. Though I read alot of fantasy novels, I like broadening my horizons and exploring new stuff. If it's good, I'll read it!Β Β

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2016-12-07 08:51:40 +0000 UTC]

I always thought I only like fantasy but I see that science fiction isn't so different to fantasy, at least the books I read. I also noticed that I love crime. Not crime only genres but most of my fantasy or sci-fi books I'm reading there is a detective trying to solve a problem. So much tension, I love that!
I hope you'll like it as well

OOHH, then I think you should check out the "Beka Cooper" series, by Tamora Pierce. It's about this female policewoman (or at least, the medieval version of it) who attempts to solve mysteries in a fantastical world, using a combination of magic and old-fashioned police work.Β Β

I'm sure I will!

sorry for beeing harsh but you are ranting on my picture for something I don't even have control over. I'm not even one of the "obsessed Katara fans". So next time you want to spread your hate then make sure the one, you are talking to, shares your opinion. Or at least try not to lose your temper because you don't like a character.
You know it's possible to share you opinion in a nice way. You should try it.
