Yes that is true, but I still like the way they captured him in FMAB not only because it's the wy the manga told it. He had a huge impact one the brothers but there were other things that has an even bigger impact on the general story, like Nina. So it's nice that it feels more balanced that way.
And yeah, I'm happy that they showed the real Hohenheim in fmab. He's such a great character, and tbh he isn't a worse father than Hughes. Hohenheim left his children to save the world. Hughes died/left his child to save the world. So I don't see any difference there only that Hughes is more frank with his feelings. Hohenheim wasn't that open with his feelings but I don't think he loved his sons or wife less than Hughes did.

Yes, yes I know what you meant! Sorry I probably came out of the blue with my explanation. I saw many posts on the internet where people stated that Hohenheim is the worst father, so I tried to explain that Hohenheim isn't any different to Hughes because both left their family for the greater good.

Yep, that's also my point of view!
He deserves so much more, he was never portrayed as cruel and the way he cared for his sons was definitely shown at the end of fmab (which was so freaking epic!)

For me it didn't really harden, yes it looks like it somehow but for me it was more like it was just frozen in that moment. he knew it was necessary to leave them but he was hurt or still felt guilty for doing it in that moment. (That's how I saw it)
That is true, that's also why I love FMA. No matter if Ed did the last punch without the help of everyone no one could have beaten Father. Also the help of the Briggs Soldiers. Everyone that fight at the end against these monster dummies.

Of course!
Yes, that is probably correct. And I feel like he was more than happy being with his boys again at the end even though he thought they'd never forgive him. I actually think that the biggest problem was that probably he couldn't forgive himself even though it was for the greater good to leave his boys.
Of course, the final battle had many battle points with every character who helped defeating father. No matter with sin or monster they were fighting.

Same. Even if I prefer Brotherhood there was one scene I loved from the first series shortly after Hughes died: Ed saw him standing on a platform while he were sitting in a train.

I agree with you
and... for that reason also

Hiroshi? The anime is based on the Manga Fullmetal Alchemist written by Hiromu Arakawa. Hiroshi only adapted it into the television series. So was Greeling created by Arakawa and wasn't made to please the fandom. :3

Isi-Daddy In reply to Pumkin-Syrup [2018-05-13 18:18:56 +0000 UTC]
But he wasn't. Arakawa gave Greed a major key role. It was important that he died at the beginning to introduce Bradley as Wrath. And without Greed at the end they wouldn't have beaten father. Maybe they'd have even more trouble to even get near him. There wasn't even fan service with him. I can see that people might think that way, but saying Arakawa made him just for the fandom, gives both Arakawa and Greed injustice.

Yes
i'm sorry
now that you put it like that it makes sense
the introduction to Wrath was excellent but both sad
I wish not everyone had to die
but, it showed how Bradley really was.
And the fact that Greed was surprised about a homunculi can age
just showed how deep Fathers plan was

no worries <3
Yes, it was a great introduction, but I'm still not over the fact that the whole devils nest gang had to die
Yes, even if I'm not quite sure if the an ageing homunculi was created on purpose by father.

Yeah
in the 2003 version I was pretty sad when Martel died...
And Dolcetto's death was sad as well
in the 2003 version when Gluttony said he was "still hungry" I cried.
I just broke down in tears.
I was depressed for a while after
