Description i don't know what to say about this piece...

This is dedicated with love and respect to the master Alex Ross...

He made his version for the cover of the San Diego comic book convention program back in 1998!

When i saw that image in the Mythology book of Alex i was so thrilled...I thought that this was one of the more powerful pictures of Man of Steel....

ive got to try this i said to myself...

Hope it isn't noticeable that this is M4 and this is a 3d picture with heavy postwork...

Guys in the comic book industry doesn't jump around when they hear the "3d" word

Superman belongs in DC comics and the original idea of this concept belongs to Alex Ross

The detail on Superman is unbelievable. Honestly he looks real in many aspects. The only thing I would even consider mentioning about him is his hair. It is either covered in dust from the whole in the wall or where ever it came from or he is much older. Looks like it is grey. Not sure if it is intentional cause his logo has changed in shape and size over the years, but the S , well the whole logo seams a bit big. Other then that he is awesome. The hole, well I know it is suppose to be a wall, but the way you have it done it looks like a hole in a wall of paper in several places. Could just be the light coming in making it so you can't see the edges, but hard to tell. Either way this is such an amazing piece. I do love it so. You do very good work. I think I like pretty much everything I have seen of yours.

Would love to see him naked, more fleshly noted, all that muscle, just his cape (and smaller waist).
Very fine rendering!!

Very nice work and an iconic image. Reminds me of the classic George Reeves Superman of my childhood. Alex Ross will see this. He'll be delighted by your homage and your skill.

Oh, gee!
I am a hopeless Superman fan, and I am afraid I am drooling all over this piece
The man himself look great - you have captured such a powerful pose - and the roughness of the background looks great with the more detailed execution of the main motive.

Brilliant work!!!

The I saw this picture the fist time I went
Then a good friend of ours told me that it wasn't a drawing (which I thought it was) but an actual render with heavy postworking (that to me is like drawing in this case) and so I went

The only thing that make me ponder about this picture is his hair.
The picture itself is pretty self explanatory, it looks more than a comic book picture, a drawing for a poster or a very limited edition thing.
You gave him the classic "hovering" stance after he punched something pretty hard ... like he is either pondering what to do next or thinking of his favourite plate cooked by his mom back in SmallVille
The Logo on his chest is huge... it could have been Just a 5 cm less bigger but that's just my opinion.

About the hair: If you ment to have that specific Kal-El with grey hair you did a pretty prefect job, otherwise I think you made a too distinc split between the light and the shadow

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ISIKOL In reply to ExGemini [2011-04-06 15:52:31 +0000 UTC]

ok..yes the hair is the grey from Alex Ross series...i know i didn't make them look as good as i wanted but hey..i m making my first steps in drawing hair

The chest logo...you should see the original picture (if you don't have Mythology from Alex Ross you should buy it...no1 reference book...) the logo is twice as mine...(im kidding but its really big)

ExGemini In reply to ISIKOL [2011-04-06 15:57:18 +0000 UTC]

Then forget my comments They are based on ignorance, especially for the Logo Part.

I think the hair came out pretty well, both the design and the flow looks real to me, it's just that clear cut between light and shadow

A wonderful homage. In fact, when I first saw this I thought instantly of Kingdom Come. I have to agree regarding the wall. It seems to have broken in a slightly unnatural fashion. Logo size for me is perfect as I prefer a larger logo on Kal anyway.
