Also, if you think about it, even their purposes differ. Silent Hill Creatures were created for psychological horror and warfare, based on specific traumas and phobias from whoever they're trying to scare into madness or they're controlled by. Resident Evil Creatures were created for psychological horror and warfare as well, but with more focus on warfare; they're built with focus on killing, not scaring.
I already imagined Silent Hill Creatures being more combat-oriented, as in, made more effective by Samael or whatever controls them. Picture an army of them, led by Pyramid Head, Butcher, Bogeyman and other SH bosses like Walter Sullivan and his Ghosts, the Shepherd's Kids, Missionary, etc. The monsters aren't twitching and fumbling, but actually smarter, faster and stronger. You have ground forces, such as Nurses, Closers, Cancers, Rompers, Grey Children/Mumblers, Scrapers, Slurpers, Gumheads, Patients, Twim Victims, Calibans, Needlers, Schisms, Siams, Smogs, Prisoners, Screamers, Weeping Bats, Raw Shocks. You would also have Wall Men appearing from any wall to attack people, the dog monsters and probably some of the Order Cultists showing up. You would haveΒ aerial monsters, such as Floatslingers, Air Screamers/Night Flutters, Swarms/Creepers(attacking like they did on the movie, spawning and swarming entire areas), Hummers. And there's the giant worms and monsters.
In Silent Hill Homecoming and Downpour, they started showing how it would be if these monsters started becoming more combative and dog-piled you. Now imagine if they did that to ALL the series' monsters and madeΒ an entire army, to attack other cities. And since it seems like they can be created from people's fears or even from converting people into monsters. I always wanted a Death Battle between Silent Hill's Monsters and Resident Evil's BOWs. XD

Whoa, how much time did you spend writing this reply? Oo
Yea, I can imagine that if all those SH-creatures starts to swarm all on you, it stops being scary. It's just a heck of a fight, not horror.
And yes again, those newest SH-games have started to have more action and combat. I think that it's not as scary as SH-games from 1 to 4.

Well, I needed to check Silent Hill Wiki, cause I sure as hell don't know the names of all SH monsters off the top of my head! I took my time, so I don't really know! XD
Well, that depends. If they're swarming a city, that's horror, but not psychological horror as Silent Hill is known for, more like Zombie Apocalypse or Legions of Hell, like Exmortis(Play this online, it's awesome). But Silent Hill monsters would still be sneaky, still be based on people's horrors and traumas AND still be horrifying, deformed demons from nightmares. It's not as scary as the 4 first games on a personal level, but it still has it's own brand of terror. They wouldn't change much, beyond increasing in number and physical attributes. I think SH monsters aren't like that because they've already taken over; in Silent Hill Homecoming, you actually see them attacking some other place. Those bastards don't need to be created in labs, they just sprout out of freaking nowhere! Those Needles coming out of pipes was scary as hell! When you enter Silent Hill or Otherworld, you're already walking in their territory. When THEY go to YOUR place, it's out of freaking nowhere, and there's no way to stop them once the fog sets in! If you believe the Order's God is real and controlling the monsters, you get the idea she's a pretty arrogant, self-centered bitch, so she doesn't put much of a fight. When she actually does... well,Β I think the monsters appear to be just as deadly as they need to be, depending on the person they're tormenting. The first games didn't present dangerous ones because you were dealing with a writer(Harry), a bartender(James), a teenager(Heather), a photographer(Henry, I'm not sure what he does, but he's no army boy) and a truck driver(Travis). Alex was trained in combat(He may not have gone to the army, but he must've been trained by his father, cause he wields that knife like a pro) and Murphy was a convicted killer(I think Revenge should be canon, because I wouldn't go through the trouble of being arrested to kill the bastard who killed by son, only to give up on the last moment), so the monsters were adapted to fight them on equal footing. So it stands to reason that if they were going to invade a large city and/or fight an army, they would be made strong enough to fight them. It keeps to them being the horrors of one's mind: The stronger the person, the stronger the demons. They'll literally know all your weaknesses, because they ARE them.
So it's still psychological horror, only less subtle. And this took only two minutes. XD

Ah, good old Silent Hill, cursed place since native americans. It would been interesting to see what kind monsters those indians saw be then. And good point with adjusting monsters, SH-monsters does that with people and "innocent" ones will not even encounter them.

"The Raven's Nest", they called it.Β Kwekwasawe was their God, so I'm guessing Kwekwasae and Samael are one and the same. It's one piece of information that gives credence to the whole "Dark Goddess" idea behind the cult. I think, after Silent Hill and Alan Wake, it's safe to say that if the local natives have some deity and a lake they consider to be a doorway to the underworld, you should just stay the fuck away from it! XD
Yeah, Laura never sees them in SH2. Silent Hill's view on innocent is skewed at best. It doesn't judge people on evil deeds, but rather what they think they're guilty for or whatever crime they've committed, no matter how justified(i.e. tormenting Angela Orosco for killing her rapist father), and has fun making them forget about it at times to screw with their minds. But it doesn't torment members of the Order, except in the movies, and we never even see a cultist interacting with a monster, ever. It's like dealing with your hyper-religious, crazy grandma, who is a monster around you, but a saint around her gossipy church friends! XD

After I played the first game, I got a little obsessed in finding what the hell was that about. Then after SH3, I got a crush on Alessa. XD
I have a theory that some of the monsters we see are the cultists transformed. The Scrapers in SH3 are hinted to be Order Soldiers turned to monsters, at least from Heather's perspective. If Walter can be made into a Wraith and Lisa into a Nurse, then it's not farfetched. Of course, given the Order, that's likely their view on a "reward", being made into "agents of God". Sadomasochist pricks. Takes all the joy from bashing their heads in Silent Hill Homecoming. I really wish there came a game where you took the fight to the Order specifically.
My dad's mom, sadly. If you want a real life version of Dahlia Gillespie Meets Norma Bates, she is it. Worst part is that I live in Brazil, and here laws says the elderly can do whatever they want, but if we so much push them, they can throw us in jail. Fucked up country.
