Narrator: Then there was trouble. Spencer snaked onto the tracks behind Thomas.

Spencer: Found ya, Thomas!

Thomas: (gasps) Spencer!

Narrator: Thomas' wheels whirled like the wind.

Spencer: Ya ain't gonna get from me this time!

Narrator: Hiro chugged as fast as he could. He was hoping to escape Spencer. Then Sepncer saw Hiro and gasped. Spencer had never seen another engine as strange as Hiro before.

Spencer: Wha is he?!

Thomas: Hiro!

Hiro: Thomas!

Spencer: That engine cannae puff properly!

Narrator: Hiro's engine had started to clatter and clunk. His gauges began to bubble and burst and now his cylinders creaked. Hiro was worried, and without the last engine part, he could only sputter and splunk. Hiro's new lamp fell lose and hit Spencer in the face. Now Hiro's engine strated to jutter and jitter. Parts fell off. They clanged and banged onto the tracks.

Hiro: NOOOOO!

Thomas: Don't worry, Hiro. You can do it.

Hiro: Thomas, help me!

Narrator: The harder poor Hiro puffed, the worse he wobbled.

Thomas: Keep puffing, Hiro!

Narrator: More parts clattered and scattered from Hiro's engine.

Hiro: THOMAS!

Thomas: You can do it, Hiro.

Spencer: I don't think he can.

Narrator: Hiro knew Spencer was right. The master of the railway was once again a heap of scrap. Hiro couldn't puff on.

Spencer: Ha! Is this whit ye 'ave been doin', Thomas, makin' a scrap of heap fur the smelter's yard, eh? I'll guess that is the only thing this engine's good fur. The Fat Controller is gonna make sure of that.

Narrator: Thomas felt terrible, and had worked so hard, but had now failed Hiro.

Thomas: Now how will I stop Spencer from sending Rusty to the smelter's yard?

Narrator: Then Thomas heard another whistle.

Thomas: Oh! It's Gordon with the express.

Gordon: I'll race towards Elsbridge station, slow-poke Spencer! I'll win!

Spencer: Oh, yeah? We'll see aboot that!

Narrator: Spencer sped about Gordon that his wheels whirled and his whistle blew. He didn't seem to see Thomas towing Hiro down an old siding.

Thomas: Cheer up, Hiro. I'll hide here, because everything will be alright.

Narrator: Poor Hiro is sadder than ever. Gordon is heading toward Elsbridge like a bullet, and despite Spencer running out of puff, Percy's mail cars rattled and clattered behind him.

Gordon: I've won! I told I won!

Narrator: In the monent in which Spencer would catch his breath, the doors of the coaches swung open. The fat Controller and The Duke stepped out, looking cross.

The Duke: Spencer, you have failed us too. We have left you in charge of our summerhouse. And it's not ready for our hoilday, is it? The Fat Controller says you've spent all day watching Thomas

The Fat Controller: and taking Percy's mail trucks all around. You said you'd take them back to Percy, but you were wrong!

Narrator: Spencer's prides were in pieces.

Spencer: But, Sir, they have an old engine as a piece of scrap in fact. I was chasing him because in fact, Topham, you should--

The Duke: Now, Spencer, please stop chasing engines as heaps of scrap. We'll send you back to the Other Railway that is quiet clear. You aren't fit to work.

Thomas: Please may I help? I'll work with Spencer at the summer house. I'm sure, that together, we can have it ready in time.

Narrator: The Duke and Duchess felt delighted.

The Duke: Thank you, Thomas! That is most kind of you! Please, keep an eye on Spencer! He is clearly not feeling well!

Narrator: Spencer wheeshed steam. Looks like it's all too terrible. It was getting late as we find Thomas going to see Hiro. Hiro was very sad.

Hiro: You've done everything you can, Thomas, but now I know I will be sent to the smelter's yard.

Thomas: No, no, you won't, I promise I won't let that happen to you. Don't give up.

Narrator: And Thomas steamed sadly away to . All the engines were very sad about Hiro and very cross with Spencer.
