The lace. *_*
I remember the time when we all did such detailed inked works with lots of patterns. I don't think I ever had the patience even back then to do lace ahaha. SO awesome.

The office can be boring sometimes...and I had to channel that boredom and sleepiness. LOL

Into lace.
Just like that lady in Rumplestiltskin (Aw I can't spell his name LOL) story where she magically spins hay into gold.
Ahaha you're officially a fairy tale princess now.

I'm a fairy? I knew it. I always thought sparklies were really pretty. xD Except can I be a cooler type of fairy? I don't think I feel like the singing pixie-butterfly type LOL.
Ha, I spelled it right? Hehehe, that was luck right there.
I'm kind of pressured here I guess; I know people watched me for mostly my fanart, but now I keep on experimenting and not doing any fanarts anymore. I was hoping to do something first that would make my friends here happy ahahaha. Though I have little plans of reviving my account too. >_>'

The thing about doing fanart is, is that I could establish something more...grounded with the characters than just creating something I would feel like drawing. For example- I would draw Ryou reading because I know there's some sort of connection people will find between the character and the composition. With originals, anything goes, and it doesn't even need any characterization at times- like, I could just draw wallpaper tearing off with a girl in front just because it's aesthetically pleasing for me. But there really isn't anything grounded enough for(most fanart-seeking)people to care about the picture.
Am I making sense? xDDD
Maybe I'm just saying for me, fanart, illustration and having my own characters in another artwork are all entirely different for me. I dunno. D:>
JAJO isn't original though! XD She's drawn from a Pullip(?) doll owned by an artist who held a contest. XDD That's how I came up with it. Still I do admit, I'm quite proud of that one. All my effort I could pull out of myself back then was poured into that...thing. XD
Same! Fanart is still my highest-faved and viewed deviation. It's still that Naruto-Valentines thing. You know, with the chibis? XDD I really never liked it except for the fact I made it to entertain myself. XDD
I actually think your style is nicer to look at now. I mean, you could still experiment with the style anyway to further personalize it, just as I'm doing. I don't think my style's also established yet.
I'm a psychiatrist!
Sometimes.

Yes, you're a psychiatrist and sometimes the psycho. LOL. Mimi is a great psycho too and we're sisters...I think we share the psycho gene. -___-;
You're right, people can relate more with established characters. People appreciate it more because they want to see those familiar characters in situations familiar to them, wishing to see them in ways they can relate. Well for my case, Kurama sleeping,reading tons of books, going to school with a smile on his face, nagmumunimuning Kurama, Kurama with a love life and of course ang walang katapusang Kurama bathing. People prefer that than our own art because they can relate to it. Original characters can alienate people sometimes because they have not made a connection with these characters. They have no idea who they are or what they do or what they did as characters.
SOLUTION: Make our characters popular!
My most favorited work is the colored pencil Kurama staring at the sky that I did to, yes, entertain myself as well as practice color penciling. XDD
JAJO isn't an original??? But it's still really pretty good. I thought it was inspired by a song or singer. I'd like to do an artwork inspired by Bjork or Oh Land. I just love them! Still considering, I didn't know it was fanart and I LOVE IT (crash me out I can appreciate originals like most of MADA LOL. Your acrylic painting has improved and I would really want to do an art trade once we're in Manila. Let's draw!!! XDDD
I was lurking on your other account and I really like how you drew the boy and girl comic strip. It's like full of love >__<;
I like your style as always, they always look very beautiful. Your style has a feminine tone, Dana has a stronger tone, Mimi has a more realistic one (she has new devs, mostly houses LOL) and mine is always the... tone. Help me I'm dying. -____-;
Yes, I'm trying to establish a more personalized JOSEI style. For some reason I want to draw waif girls with androgynous faces. They have to be creepy-looking too. My office colleagues observed it and asked me why I create creepy looking girls and women while my boys look normal. LOL.
We're all WIPs at some point.

But I'm a psychiatrist most of the time.
I am also NASA-accredited. Whatever that means.
But the thing with me is that....I find established characters kind of limiting now. Like- I don't feel like drawing the same characters over and over again when I'm required to think "What will they do that will be within their character?"
It's just that recently, ever since I stopped doing fanart, I find myself drawing whatever pleases me, based on whatever mood I'm in. I wouldn't draw my own characters anymore because I get bored with them- sadly. Or maybe I've just created them as too "stiff", that's why? Ugh, I need a writer.
I agree with the "Make our characters popular" point, since I have tried that with Muffin- and he does seem to be the ladies' man. I actually got people to join my contest in drawing him.
But in terms of characterization, I think I'm lacking in that department. He's the same old, same old to me- moody, sweet, moody- uh. Stupid. Emo. Sweet.
I dunno what direction to shove him into.
OH YES. I want to do something off Bjork and Oh Land. I LOVE THEM both. I thought I was the only one to see how similar their music are. But I love them both. <3<3<3
My painting skills have improved But my inking is kind of wobbly now, hahaha. Well actually not so much the last time I tried, but I haven't been inking as much as I used to in highschool.
LOL feminine, yes. I'd agree. I always went for soft, curvy and round things. Dafu went for angular and sharp styles. Eeee, such lovely art contrasts. Your tone is not ! It's mixed with high-fashion taste, 10% Yazawa stick bodies (lol), and for some reason, I could associate your art with burlesque shows. (I mean only aesthetically, not thematically. xD)
I mean, if you build on your style more, it'll be much more striking and unique since it's not an overdone style. I'm actually worried about mine since a lot of people also go for the "rounded", Western anime-ish+Disney look that I think I'm headed to. ):
Ahahaha your men look normal? Maybe there's a psychological reason for that? My psychiatric radar is picking up something that tells me there's a backstory behind this preference.
...Ahehehehe.
I am ALWAYS, a WIP.

I miss MUFFIN!!! and KENJI and all those characters you made! I didn't know Muffin was emo...or stypid. That's quite a surprise for me, he always looked serious and intelligent. LOL XDDD
I found OH LAND accidentally through Youtube Vevo videos and immediately loved her. I also found a bit of Bjork with her, although Bjork's songs are sometimes much deeper and darker, Oh land is light and fluffy like cotton candy. XDD
Ah! I miss your inking. The last thing I inked is that KYRIA VELVET I did that made my hand sore. I haven't been able to work well with ink now. I use pencils more. -____-; or watercolor or color pencils. Dana seems to be the only one doing ink (hasn't she always). Mimi's devs are floor plans hahahaha. I'm really trying to master watercolor but it's a bit difficult. Easy to do, difficult to master.
Aww... thank you. I think I like Burlesque (aesthetically). Hahaha on the stick bodies, I do try to make them waif. Sometimes I overdo it. yes, I've tried to make it a bit like Yazawa's stick bodies but I also like how Maki Kusumoto, another Josei artist, does her waif characters, thin, lanky and long but with volume so they don't look like sticks. So I'm trying my best to make my waif characters gain some "flesh". Hahaha.
Don't worry, I can still see that your style is very different from the typical Western anime-ish+Disney look other people try to accomplish. Most of them either, simplify too much or overdo it. You, however, does it moderately, and that's perfect! None too much or too little, so it's perfect! A good crossover between cultures indeed.
The backstory died a couple of years ago when we entered college (and continued for two more years)Hahahaha. Maybe, there's a backstory or maybe I just like to draw creepy women and normal men. Men are so normal to me hahahaha. They have a strange normal world, probably not suited for my weird brain. LOL XDDD
Aren't we all WIPs? XDDDD
