It actually refers to Croteus-12! though i dont think many people know about the idw tf comics either

While I can see by the tags it's meant to be Cybertron, the color scheme and angles make it look much more like a Combine outpost from Half Life 2.

I could totally see that (the blue and yellow definitely makes it feel Combine). The Citadel was actually inspiration for some of it because it transformed into an 'active' state and I thought that was pretty cool.
I'll need to work on making a slightly less Combine version though. :CΒ

Yeah the colors are kind of specific. To avoid that I'd say plain old 'rusty metal' but that becomes just like every other rusty-metal colored everything ever.
