Wooo, an actual painting for once...
As you can probably tell by some of my recent comics, I've played quite a bit of Guild Wars 2 lately. I wanted to draw something about the origins of my human noble, and - since I chose the dead sister background story - I decided to make a portrait of my mesmer Kristabel and her sister Deborah. This takes place few years before the events of the game, soon after Deborah was accepted into a decorated Seraph unit, Falcon Company. Kristabel insisted they'd commission a painting of two of them together to commemorate the promotion. In the end Debs agreed to pose next to her in a new Seraph uniform - slightly embarrased and probably finding the whole thing rather superfluous, but willing to humor her little sister's whims nonetheless. I picture Kristabel returning to this painting numerous times after hearing the news of Deborah's entire unit being wiped out by a centaur ambush. To her it would serve as a reminder of happier days - and the ever so slight hope that her sister might still be somewhere out there.

For once, a human character who chose something other than the "never joined the circus" origin! I swear, every single human-based playthrough I've seen has picked the circus origin, because heaven forbid that something INTERESTING might have happened in your backstory! (-___-)
...seriously, if people are that thin-skinned, I can only imagine what their reaction to the Charr intro is.

Zero Punctuation's regret over picking the circus and peasant origin for his necromancer had me in hysterics. "Well, I missed my chance to join the circus. Guess I'll just have to fall back on the communing with the dark powers of the Nether Realm thing." I must admit, when I described the human backstories I thought he had to be exaggerating or comically paraphrasing the circus background, and was quite surprised when I discovered he hadn't.

I remember staring at the circus option during the character creation like "well, one of these things are not like the other"...
I took a sneak peek at Charr backstories and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for either sorcerous shaman or honorless gladium. Conflict! Angst! Daddy issues!

my first character was an human noble and i have to admit i found the last mission from this story line quite difficult i was really under lvled and keep dying, i won only beacuse i maneged to draw all the badits to the waypoint i just keep hiting and hitting and dying and then hit again

I feel you - since I'm playing as a mesmer I had trouble all the way through these quests in the beginning. If I remember correctly I went to do level 7 quest with level 10 equipment and stuff, and I still died 3-4 times before I was able to complete it successfully. Not that it's much easier with my current levels. I'm still trying to master the art of kiting...

Aww, thank you so much! My characters usually kind of start living a life of their own, so I always end up with an unnecessary amount of backstories for everything and everyone...
Yeah, Zhaitan is the one that has kept my mesmer running around, too. I'm level 54 at the moment, though, so I don't know how the whole thing is going to turn out yet.

I see XD Mine usually do after a while as well...except my necro as he deems something like a background unnecessary^^ Well i will not spoiler anything about Zaithan besides: HE IS UGLY AS HELL! Zaithan is by the far the most hideous dragon i eve saw in a game. Well i assume that was what they wanted to do and damn they did a great job. Neither the archdemon from Dragon age origins, now the reanimated Onyxia from WoW are this gruesome.

I'm not sure. from the gameplay, it doesn't look like DA at all. One thing i noticed is it's missing that little six skill quickslot thing.

Yeah, but it brings back different origins so that's totally a plus from where I look at it. Any technical and gameplay related stuff I should be able to deal with as long as the game has a strong story and interesting characters. *fingers crossed*

That was my favourite part about origins. Hopefully it combines the gameplay of 2, and the story of O and makes it better.
