I like to think Mufasa and Sarabi had another cub before Simba, being Simba's older brother, and was killed by a lion that wasn't Scar and he didn't make it in time to save him. And Simba, who didn't know him, named his son Kiongozi, which was his brother's name, and Mufasa missed him dearly and would let his tears go when no one was around.
