Did some redesigns of the Balto pups inspired by my friend Sketch-Shepherd! Had a lot of fun doing these! Let's have a look at them, shall we?
Aleu: Still the most wolf-like of Balto's children, but I made her look a tad more like Jenna. I like to think of her as being the oldest of them all.
- Head: Mostly the same as her OG movie design. However, I removed her darkened ears and gave her the same markings as Jenna because I think they look great on her. Maybe not as wolf-like, but I don't care. She has a fluffy nose bridge and hair tuft on her forehead, as well as chin, similar to Balto. Her eyes are orange-yellow like a wolf's.
- Body: I kept her same body type, including the shoulder tuft. Her chest is still fluffy and she has the same markings as before.
- Legs: Her legs are the same as before, with huge paws. I gave her the standard markings wolves seemed to have in the second movie to make her look more wolf-like in that respect.
- Tail: Doesn't curl with pale unders.
- Colors: Her colors are identical to those in the movie safe for her darkened ears and eyes.
Kodi: The dedicated sled dog son of Balto. Takes more after his mother, but has some Balto-like elements as well.
- Head: Similar to his in the movie. Mostly smooth but with fluffy cheeks. I removed his darkened ear tips and his facial mask is subtly different from Jenna's, with him having a more W-shaped blaze on his forehead. I kept his weird distinct muzzle lineart markings because I kinda like it despite it looking odd. His eyes are slightly feminine-shaped and he has heterochromia (which I like to think he inherited from either Balto's dog father or Jenna's husky parents).
- Body: Roughly the same as in the movie. Mostly smooth, same markings. He is also more chubby than the other pups.
- Legs: Big paws like Balto. I gave him Balto's front paw markings and his hind legs look similar to those of Balto, but without the inner leg/thigh part being pale.
- Tail: Doesn't curl, but has a very slight curve to it. Pale unders.
- Colors: Very similar to his movie counterpart, with him having Jenna's base colors but more grayish to be similar to Balto.
Saba: Daughter who resembles Jenna the most, mostly in body type. She is a bit of a posh and careful dog.
- Head: Similar mostly to Jenna's. However, she has a fur tuft on her forehead, a pink nose and blue eyes of a narrow shape. She has the same dark ear tips as Jenna and her mask has a slightly different shape, lacking the extra triangular blaze her mother has.
- Body: Almost identical to Jenna's, being built much more frail and elegant. She's slightly fluffier than her mother. Same markings.
- Legs: Thin and not too long like Jenna's, but with big paws like Balto. Markings similar to Jenna's.
- Tail: Curls like her mother's.
- Colors: Basically the same as those of her mother, but more washed out and pale.
Dingo: Balto's and Jenna's uncertain and awkward son. He's the only pup other than Aleu aware of his wolf ancestry, and doesn't really know how to cope with it.
- Head: Similar to that of his father, though his cheeks aren't as fluffy. Hair tuft, tufts in inner ears, fluffy nose bridge and chin as well as eyebrows. His eyes are shaped like those of his father, but have the colors of that of a wolf (he is sometimes nicknamed "Wolf-eyes" by the other dogs). Mask is the same as that of Jenna but doesn't connect to his pale chest/belly marking. He has dark ear rims.
- Body: Fluffy and kinda scrawny like Balto. Chest/belly marking doesn't connect to face mask, much like with Kenai.
- Legs: Also very much like Balto. Short front paw "sock" markings and Jenna's higher ones on his hind legs. Big paws.
- Tail: Similar to Balto. Can curl but is more often held down.
- Colors: Very grayish compared to his siblings, yet still based of Jenna's colors. Grayness is inherited from his wolf genetics. His inner ears are dark pink rather than the same as his lower markings.
Atka: A very bright and positive male that loves to explore and often runs away from his home to temporarily stay with Balto or in the wild to get a taste of what being a wolf is like. Despite this, he always returns home to his loving owner.
- Head: Similar to Kodi. However, he has Aleu's movie markings with the red blaze and all. He has a small tuft of fur on his forehead and darkened ears. One of those is notched, and he has some scars across his left eye which I like to think he got in a fight with a wolverine or something. His eye shape is the same as Jenna's/movie Kodi's and they are bright blue.
- Body: Similar to movie Kodi, but his coat is longer and thicker.
- Legs: Similar to Balto/movie Kodi. Pretty big paws. Front paw socks are the same as Jenna's, hind leg markings are the same as Balto/movie Aleu.
- Tail: Sickle tail that doesn't fully curl but is usually held up. However, the red continues further than with the other siblings, making it run to the very tip rather than stop just in front of it.
- Colors: He has the brightest colors out of all of his siblings. Colors are mostly identical to Jenna, however his pale markings are closer to being white than cream.
Kenai: The only non-binary dog in the litter! They are polite and curious.
- Head: Mostly Dusty/Aleu-based. Looks perfectly unisex with a smooth forehead yet a slightly fluffy nose bridge and chin. Eyes are Jenna/movie Kodi shaped and black. Ears are slightly bigger and more rounded than those of their siblings, with inner ear fluffs. They have a unique face mask, with only the muzzle minus the nose bridge being pale. Muzzle marking doesn't connect to chest/belly marking.
- Body: Body mostly the same as Aleu. Chest marking doesn't connect to muzzle one. Coat is short and mostly smooth.
- Legs: Kind of short and balanced, with the feet not being too big. Jenna's front leg markings and lower socks on the hind legs.
- Tail: They lost most of their tail in some kind of accident a while back, but when they still had it it would curl occasionally but was most times worn down like Balto's. They have pale unders.
- Colors: I really liked their movie colors, so I stayed identical to those! Only their eyes are black instead of dark brown because I wanted to have some slight variation in eye colors.
I wanted to keep the naming pattern of having locations, mostly in Alaska, I think? Hence Kenai and Atka for the two unnamed pups. I hope you like all of these redesigns! I also went for a mix between my own style and the Balto one for this piece.
