Art for The Choir and The Sworn (C&S) done by the incomparable Tobie Creates. This series of science fiction novels concerns the Choir, people lured and pressed into the service of a hidden and inhuman entity that calls itself Cantos. Cantos lives off the pain of humanity as plants live off the bright sun's rays, and its Choir is its slaves, working soldiers, doctors, scientists, and even lawyers. Their goal is simple, feed the Great Grey Beast and live another day. In exchange for this vile work, these "Chanters" are infested with powerful symbiotic organisms of Cantos' design, granting greater speed, strength, and resilience, and even powers of psychic manipulation. But most of all, Cantos grants indescribable sensations of pleasure when Chanters harm others: every scream a song, every tear a drop of honey. Alexa Torres has served Cantos and loved God for many years, but it is written: "One cannot serve to masters". Though she will doom her friends and her own mother to Cantos' vengeance, she sets on a one-way trip to Martyrdom, hoping to take a large part of the Choir's vital infrastructure with her. Instead of death, she encounters something worse: evidence of a beast of a whole different caliber of evil.
