Next in my Birds of the World list.Abbott’s Booby is a species of Booby currently native to Australia’s Christmas Island.
They are the largest of all the Booby species and were first officially identified in 1892 by William Louis Abbott.
Although they once had a larger range, they are currently endangered with populations decreasing.
This is due to logging, climate change, overfishing, marine pollution, and the possible introduction of Yellow Crazy Ants.
They are monogamous and mate for life.
Despite their current predicament, there are fortunately programs in action to preserve and protect this species.
