I painted this picture of J32 Rhapsody and her calf for some friends of mine. Unfortunately, Rhapsody passed away earlier this month due to complications from her pregnancy and her calf was never born. I bet she would have been a brilliant mother though, I'm just sorry she wasn't able to get the chance.Now the Southern Resident Orca population is down to 77 members, another crushing blow to their community. Hopefully they'll be able to recover from their losses these past few years.
On another note, I'm sorry I've been gone for so long. I quite honestly have not felt much up to doing anything lately and checking Deviantart everyday just wasn't appealing. I'm really behind on my messages and everything, but maybe I'll catch up over the next few days.

Aww. Such a beautiful picture. It really captures the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. I miss lil' Rhaps so much she was one of my favs to see and I always got amazed when she breached, even if it was my thousandth time to see her (and her little baby that never had a chance to experience life). It always breaks my heart to see the J22's travelling without her (and cousin J34 Doublestuf, who sadly passed away 2016). This pic ist just... amazing and sad

Thank you very much for the compliments! I’m sorry that you won’t be able to see her (or DoubleStuf) again but I hope this painting did Rhapsody some justice. It’s always bittersweet seeing pics or paintings of them so I’m glad you enjoyed this piece.

Yeah. I know, Rhaps was such an awesome whale and now she's gone... and if it's even not enough, J52 Sonic has passed away as well last year. I hope these guys will recover soon oh, and I'll check out Doublestuf's pic as well!
