Description A long long time ago, I used to animate. That's actually what I went to college for! But, y'know, sometimes life makes you a webcartoonist instead.

This was done in an old Windows 3.0-era program called "Disney Animator Studio." I spent a lot of time with it before college. Oh, memories.

You know, I think this view of Joyce is the closest thing in the entire Walkyverse to an explanation of where her jetpack hides when she's not using it.

Not really. Eyes are supposed to turn before the head, and it does make sense for her to be looking up. I mean, unless you're referring to when she skips/stumbles, it looks like the eyes move exactly like we're taught to treat eyes as animators.

Don't get me wrong, there are things that need work here, but Joyce's eyes aren't exactly one of them.

I see. Joyce's eyes were the first thing I noticed when I first saw it, so instincts as a spriter probably kicked in.

I get that.The pupils are significantly smaller than the eye I'm used to seeing in sprites as well.

Back in high school, it was still spelled SEMY. I didn't change the spelling until the webcomic started.

I see... I always thought it stood for something along the lines of Secret Extra-terrestrialized Mutants or something like that.

By the way, I'm a huge fan of yours and have read the entirety of It's Walky, Dumbing of Age, and Shortpacked! I'm also a budding amateur flash animator and want to build my skills by animating for some of my favorite webcomic artists. If ever you're interested let me know, please.
