When I first looked at this, I really thought it was fake. It's hard to believe things can be this beautiful in life. This is a stunning photo, that is hard to believe! The beautiful mountains, reflecting on the water is beautiful. Truthfully, it would be better if the rock towards the middle of the picture was not there. It really grabs your attention, and in my opinion, takes away from the other beauty in the picture.

However, I do really love how you can clearly see under the water, and see all the detailed rock. I would definitely love to visit this place some day. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> Fantastic job.

Haven't checked my messages in awhile sorry. Maybe a 11x16 or something close to that? Wouldn't mind having something poster size too.. just depends on how much I can afford at the time.

This shot reminds me so much of Scotland. I'm not Scottish, but I went on holiday to the Highlands the Isle of Skye about fifteen years ago and fell in love with the place, Skye especially: it has an air of the dawn of time about it, and that's what comes through in your shot here - somewhere utterly, utterly pristine, tranquil and peaceful. I see from another comment (and I can't imagine it's the only one) that the commenter is inspired by your picture to visit Garibaldi Lake one day: not being a nitpicker, but I think he misses the point - that is to say that maybe it's so breathlessly beautiful simply because it doesn't get the human visitation other places do. I think your shots, not just of Garibaldi Lake, but of all the places you visit in British Columbia are so amazing that we don't need to descend on the place in our thousands and put its fragility in jeopardy, we can appreciate the full majesty of its powerful beauty from a safe (safe for the environment, that is) distance

Most of these hikes involve climbing 300-500 floors, and most of the people are too lazy or unable to do that.

Wow, what a stunningly beautiful landscape! The kaleidoscope of colours, particularly of the lighting, is looks fantastic! I especially like the orange light on the rocks and the contrast between the parts of the mountain covered in shadow and the parts covered in sunlight. The crystal clearness of the water looks lovely too. Great shot!

I've been shooting raw files for HDR, and have less than satisfactory results. I've been shooting at -2, 0 and +2, most of the time the +2 is useless for the image, and when they mesh, the colours don't really blend well. Do you have any tips or advice? It would be much appreciated.

What software do you use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tartleigh In reply to IvanAndreevich [2011-08-20 09:28:16 +0000 UTC]

I use the HDR merge in Photoshop. In all honesty, I could do better by stacking my images and masking out areas. So I know either I'm shooting the images wrong, or I'm doing the post-processing wrong.

Try Photomatix. Much more powerful.
